(1) We went into Iraq choosing to believe they had WMDs even before our inspectors completed their work. Having found no WMDs, we have caused others to doubt our word, and pay more attention to those who oppose us. (2) Invading Iraq before we knew where WMDs were is like killing the kidnappeer without knowing where the kid is. If Saddam had WMDs, we can be certain that they are now out of the country, which makes them much more dangerous. (3) Iraq is in anarchy and there is a lot of anger at the U.S. It is a great recruiting ground for terrorists. (4) The Iraq war is costing us upwards of $150 billion, which could have been used to secure our borders, protect airports, and track Al Qaeda fugitivies. (5) While the Iraq war wages, Afghanistan remains in anarchy and bin Laden remains a free man. (6) Instead of having one man we need to contain (Saddam Hussein), we now have many. A large number of Iraqi leaders under Saddam have not yet been found and are likely working against our interests. (7) The defeat of Iraq is a dream-come-true for Iran, which has long wanted to become the superpower of the Middle East.
Any other ways the war has made the world more dangerous?
