Help!!! Can you share addresses for TROOP CARE PACKAGES?
I'm on a local Dems board and several folks want to collect DVDs, batteries, etc... to send to our men and women stationed in Iraq and afganistan.

What are the best sites to get stuff to our troops?

Thanks!

5. Bullcrap.
They're human beings. Many of them come from poor families, and enlisted to better their station. Most of them probably figured they'd never see actual combat.

Fight the dictators, not the cannon fodder.

8. I am sorry
but being a retired Vet i know all too well the blind support for the republicans in the military. If you support them fine. I just can not and i never expected to be supported when i was in the military. it was my job and i didn't need accolades and bribes to do it. And i remained a true liberal and opposition to the overwhelming right wing slant of the military. If the troops want support maybe they should look for a job that warrants real support, like a teacher, social worker etc...

6. The troops are not our enemy.
Sometimes even a sincere and well-meaning position needs reevaluation.

:)

7. Yep.
Our troops will be greatful for anything we send them (and so would ANY of us if we were there). They HATE being there and every reminder of home will make them want to come home even more. They deserve all the help we can give them, including sending Bush back to Crawford.

Let's send them good books too, like 1984, Animal Farm, and good stuff by Howard Zinn, Will Pitt, etc.

9. The unit I've been sending to recently wants food.
They're out in the boonies, and Uncle Sam provides nothing but MRE's for months at a time. Pure MRE's for months! So real 'American' food is highly welcome. Of course, what gets highly desired depends on conditions where they live.

Lately, they have started pestering me for armored HMMWV's and proper helmets and pistols. :)

11. They are low on ammo and low on food
The friend of a friend recently returned from a year in Iraq as a civilian contractor. He says the troops need food and ammunition. He also says everyone is sick, due in no small part to the lack of safe drinking water over there (in Baghdad.)

10. democrats in support of troops
I've been thinking about sending books/food, etc. to the troops and was going to try to include something that would make clear that the assistance they are getting is from a Kerry/Edwards supporter (maybe making up Kerry/Edwards bookmarks or something, or just putting a bumper sticker on the package). Why not let the troops see that Dems care about them, probably more than the jerks that sent them over to Iraq.
