The trouble with Nader.
Bush has the support of all of the Christian fundamentalists (40% of the electorate). Because of his support for ultra right-wing positions such as a ban on gay marriage and abortion, he won't be loosing any of this. For the sake of argument, I'm going to assume that that's all the support he gets
If Nader gets everything he wants, equal funding, debate time on television with the other candidates, his name on every state ballot, etc, then I believe that he would get anywhere from 20% of the vote (there are still some very liberal democrats, as well as a good portion of Democrats fed up with the leadership of the DNC) to about 35% (an overall disire to see Nader fail because of his percieved spoiler roll in the last election, as well as Nader's perceived un-electability). The bottom line is that we would be looking at another Bush victory.
Thus this issue isn't about Bush v. Bush-lite, it's about voting for a man who sits in total opposition to what Nader wants or voting for a man who wants to see things shifted closer to Nader's positions.
Yes, Kerry isn't Nader. Kerry has his own ideas about what he wants to do. The simple fact of the matter is that we have to throw our support behind one (Bush), or one other. We can't have it both ways. At least, not in this election.

1. The trouble with nader is that he is really insane
He fights to destroy everything he has ever fought for. Unknown to
most people, he was kidnapped last year by Al Queda terrorists and
brainwashed to keep bush in office by working with the republicans
to undermine democracy in the USA.

He asked to join a flight school, but they said that he'd be better
running for president. He is an honourary member of Islamic Jihad,
Hamas, the Republican party and Likud, who all love him for his
devotion to terrorism and a bush reelection.

7. HA ha !
Embellished with the same lunacy that drives him to subvert
the Democratic forces allied against AWOL.

In fact, his motives are deeply questionable, and he is a terrorist
supporter by supporting bush like he does. Why not pin him up
in the very light his motives paint him towards. Intent is not
words, and nader's intent is the same as a suicide bomber.

2. Not a chance
If Nader gets everything he wants, he ends up with 2 percent of the vote. He will not do better than 2000. There is not a snowball's chance in Hades that he even approaches 5 percent support.

However, this does not mean I think the man will not be a factor. If he even gets close to 5 percent, it will likely change the outcome.

3. NAder is a lunatic
If he cared about anything other than his ego he wouldn't have ran, or at the minimum he wouldn't have ran in swing states.

4. Christian fundamentalists = 40% of the electorate?
I'd like to see your data on that.

6. I would too
I would say that there is no more than 20% of people who would self identify that way, and even a smaller percentage of frothing, RW Fundies.

There may be 40% of Americans that would consider themselves devout christians, but the chimp doesn't have their votes locked up, because some of them actually read the bible.

8. No way Fundies make up 40% of the electorate...
Also no way Nader pulls in 20%

Back to the drawing board, eh?

11. "from 20% of the vote"
There's one practical problem to your assumption. Nader will not be on enough states' ballots to come anywhere close to that -- and the fact that he's not is evidence that there is nowehere close to 20% support for Nader.
