I think Bauer is defintely smarter than Bush (who isn't?) and probably more honest (who isn't?). I know Bauer openly criticized Bush when he mocked Karla Faye Tucker. Bauer is an extremist and whackjob but at least he is consistent and true to his views and I don't think he's anywhere near the hypocrite that Bush is. I feel that George Bush only became a born again freak when he lost an early congressional election in his career in Texas in 1978 to an incumbent who used Evangelical culture against Bush. Bush realized he'd been out-folksyfied in that election and decided from then on to sound as backwoods dumb as possible and also to play up evangelical Christian values. Bush is all about trying to market himself as a compassionate conservative and likeable good old boy. Basically, I guess I'm saying that a right wing extremist Christian like Bauer who doesn't care who he offends would be better than a cynical and phoney fraud and liar like Bush ... but not much better.
