I found out why Bush is not in favor of embryonic stem cell research.
I heard it on the radio last night.

they were talking about a study involving gene therapy for MONKEYS!

lab monkeys rarely cooperate in psychologically oriented testing, apparently, (not to mention most of the time) without being constantly given rewards, usually in the form of food.

so some scientists found a way to give them altered genes that made them MUCH more cooperative, without having to give them food as a reward any more. they were described as 'working' longer and harder, being MUCH more cooperative, without needing much, if any, rewards.

you see where I'm going here? the very FIRST thing that entered my mind was.............monkeyboy!

he's so fricking ignorant that, when he heard 'genetic' research, all he could think of was stem cells. Combine that with the idea of having to do a LOT more work, never mind under WHAT conditions (much less not having his gameboy, pretzels, and Jack as a reward after a long five hour day), he freaked!

ergo, NO morea that gentical research, under ANY circumstances

now......I'll go see if I wasn't having a fever dream in the middle of the night. I did hear that, though; I swear.

1.  Monkeys motivated with laziness 'cure'
Scientists have managed to turn procrastinating primates into workaholic monkeys by switching off a gene in the brain circuit.

Like many humans, monkeys tend to slack when a goal is distant, but work harder as a deadline looms. But scientists in the United States have found a gene therapy - blocking the brain messenger chemical, dopamine - that makes the animals work hard all the time.

2. Bush has taken more vacation time than any other president
So I take it that Chimpanzees count as monkeys?
