Will Microsoft Pull Plug on Hardball?
A "tipster" tells the New York Daily News that the proposed sale of Slate has talk show host Chris Matthews "worried that MSNBC parent Microsoft might pull funding and shutter Hardball. That would force Matthews to look for another berth -- possibly on Fox."

I don't get why people here hate "Tweety" quite as much as they do. Yeah he's no democrat, but I think you can't look at him during the last year and say he's a republican or a Bushie. I doubt Faux would let him on their channel.

1. I go back and forth on Matthews
He was sneering about Fahrenheit 9/11 being propoganda, although he said that calling Michael Moore someone who hates his country was very absurd, as the second part of the movie demonstrated a great love of country.

3. I watch him...
he annoys me sometimes but I see him give it to the Bush "strategists" or whatever...

he asked one of them actually during the Dem convention what would of happened if the Clinton Admin had the issue like the Bush admin has with Halliburton??? and the guy said "i cna't answer hypotheticals" and Chris wouldn't drop it...

I dont' hate him but he irritates me at times...

16. Same here.
Hubby calls him the screamer and can't stand him. He says CM's yelling gets in the way of the show and that all it's for is to make certain his spin is heard. Can't disagree with that, but I've pretty much learned to let what Matthews says go in one ear and out the other. Frankly, I want to hear what the guests say.

He dishes it to both sides, he's not going to agree with us all the time, and same goes for the right.

4. Well if Microsoft pulls the plug on MSNBC we lose the minimal
liberal whispers crumbs that we are getting now. And slate is another mostly liberal outlet. It will be a pity is it is sold.

5. Faux can HAVE him
All he does is talk over and interrupt his "guests".. Instead of having ONE guest, and actually delving into things, he always has the screaming head scenario..and every other phrase is "We're outta time".. Shit.. IT's supposed to be a 24/7 "news" channel...they should NEVER be "outta time".. The whole setup with "celeb/newsreaders" and their "shows" is what's WRONG with the 24/7 news shows.. They are all show and no news

and he doesnt do homework enough is my issue. i watch him, not as bad as others. an example, yesterday they talked swift boat ad, and had dem and repug representitives. the repug talked 70% of the time. but what had me talking to the tv matthews said the doctor that treated kerry and said he didnt deserve purple heart is what left an impression.

dem says that doctor didnt treat kerry though he said he did. records show a different dr treated kerry.

no way says tweety, is that for real, do you swear, promise?

i ma saying to tweety, an easy one to confirm. there info is there, why dont you already know

that is the frustration for me with tweety, how much he doesnt know

into having their own 24/7 venue.. Wouldn't it be loverly if CBS bought MSRNC and canned all the lipglossed bimbettes and their 6-pack abs prettyboy prompter reader buddies.. CBS could mimic what made CNN great.. NEWS..not FLUFF,, They would corner the market..

12. Um, how do you know what MSNBC's anchormen's abs look like ?
Did they have a halfshirt day or something? And they better not frigging fire the hot MSNBC anchors. Natalie Morales and Amy Robach are like the only good reasons to watch the channel most days.

19. I don't know. Would you rather have the bloated splotchy right-wing guys
like on Faux? The American news bussiness is not going to abandon sex appeal for their anchors of both genders any time soon if ever.

23. I saw that segment...
And I wanted to smash my television. I think Matthews was playing dumb - he certainly KNEW the facts surrounding this ad, yet seemed surprised by the information about the doctor (and yeah, he then hectored the guy mercilessly - ARE YOU SURE? REALLY? SWEAR?).

Bullshit. He knew full well doing that segment that a lot of this crap has been debunked, yet he acted as though it hadn't been vetted by anyone yet. Hell, even the Republican on the show distanced himself from that ad, and didn't defend one bit of it. So what wws the purpose of this charade? To air that clip again, and again, and again, and act like some or all of it was credible (he actually said, "If this is true, it's a real blow to Kerry"). Totally irresponsible. He knew it wasn't true. Everyone in DC knows about this ad, yet he claims to be some big political journalist? Pfffft.

who dont know what to make of Tweety just go back to the monica lewinsky ordeal and the 2000 election. Please dont tell me he was fair during those events....hahaha....He went after Clinton and Gore as if Gore and Clinton murdered his family. It was an obsession...a sick one for sure.

Also, he is truly in love with Bush....every other show he talks about how great Bush looks and about his crotch....yeck! He is not objective and is not always informed either. He yells mostly at Dem guests and most of the time how no idea what he is talking about.

18. absolutely with what he did with clinton
he still goes after clinton with the same venom. yes, he is one that took gore out with the negative talk all the time. and has yet to say one good thing about kerry

anotehr example of last nite going over two ads, he concluded with

bush ads....bush is better than his ads
and kerry isnt as good as his ads

saying kerrys ads so good, kerry isnt as good
bush ads bad and he is better than that

I was aghast at the racist manner in which he berated Al Sharpton at the DNC. He's filth. Can him and bring back Donahue.

11. The "PLUG" just wouldn't be pulled.
If Microsoft were to bow out of MSNBC ( which would be terrific ), seems to me that NBC alone or with a new ( and hopefully even handed ) partner would continue it. I just read for the first time this quarter MSNBC has turned a profit. The profit has been given credit to Rick Kaplan who left CNN. Kaplan was known to support Bill Clinton.

That's a fantaaaaastic site. It'd only get better if it left MSNBC's hands, I would assume.

MSNBC is one of their competitors. Microsoft has denied that they have any interest in selling their share of MSNBC. This was wishful thinking on the part of the NewsCorp folks.

attempt to know the facts before he repeats right wing memes on his show. Last week he told Wes Clark that out the blue Kerry criticized * for sitting for seven minutes in that Florida classroom after he found out about we were under attack. That clearly wasn't true and Clark corrected him. Where does he get his facts from? hummm? Maybe Drudge. Maybe the RNC.

As far as him being for *. Just last night he said that he though * was better than his campaign commercials. Looks like he's still smitten. Even after all he knows. Tweety hated Clinton for being a liar. He forgives * though. He's a disgusting pig.
