yet another person pays a price for pointing out the truth about the Iraq War.
Richard Butler was head of Weapons Inspectors in Iraq and said there were no WMD , criticising the invasion, even though Saddam Hussein had put a price on his head.
The Murdoch owned Mercury newspaper in Tasmania has waged a vicous hate campaign against his appointment as Governor 10 months ago.

RICHARD Butler has resigned as Governor of Tasmania, blaming a malicious campaign for forcing him out of the vice-regal post.
The resignation came after a tense three-hour meeting with Premier Paul Lennon last night at Government House in Hobart.
It brings to an end 10 tumultuous months which began last October when Mr Butler, an avowed republican, was sworn in as the 25th Governor of Tasmania.

A former UN weapons inspector and diplomat, Mr Butler was appointed by late premier Jim Bacon, who said he would bring world attention to Tasmania.
On April 1, Mr Lennon, who replaced Mr Bacon as Premier, formally reprimanded Mr Butler and ordered him to cease making political comments, after he described the United States in unflattering terms in a speech in Hobart.
