Information on Citizen Police Academy and TIPS programs - both TIA program
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 05:17 PM by shance
It looks as though the neighborhood *watch* programs are alive and well and are being formed nationwide in relative quiet, despite statements from the DOJ saying that TIA was to be scrapped.

So whats up here?

The Citizen Police Academy apparently is another government sponsored TIPS program as well, but I cannot find any further information about it other than here.

I think the fact these programs are being implemented along with the fear mongering and terror alerts should be concerning to all citizens, not to mention potential huge violations of our Civil Liberties and in the right climate could contribute to quite a privacy invasion, if they arent already.

Anyone know anything further on these programs?

1. Yes, I do,
only in a different time and place, they were called the National Socialist German Workers' Party, and they did the exact same things!

2. TIA was something completely different
Total Information Awareness was a program to combine databases so that the government had more information on citizens.

TIA is a different program.

http://www.epic.org/privacy/profiling/tia/
The Total Information Awareness project is part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Information Awareness Office. The office is headed by Admiral (retired) John Poindexter who is responsible for conceiving the project. TIA purports to capture the "information signature" of people so that the government can track potential terrorists and criminals involved in "low-intensity/low-density" forms of warfare and crime. The goal is to track individuals through collecting as much information about them as possible and using computer algorithms and human analysis to detect potential activity.

The project calls for the development of "revolutionary technology for ultra-large all-source information repositories," which would contain information from multiple sources to create a "virtual, centralized, grand database." This database would be populated by transaction data contained in current databases such as financial records, medical records, communication records, and travel records as well as new sources of information. Also fed into the database would be intelligence data.

6. Kiah, again read the thread, these programs appear to be offsets.
If they are being implemented, why havent we heard about it, and who is implementing and funding them?

And why the secrecy?

4. They were suppose to stop this
I bet it full of Bush lovers. Little fucking christian facists. Put this down as something to get rid of the minute we get the WH back. We can FIRE every single one of them by canceling the program then create a new TIPS filled with leftists to spy on the "faithful" and their facist counterparts.
