I have made my intentions clear about voting.
My husband and I have donated and will vote for Kerry. I thought he did a good job on the speech, though he still needs to answer in full for the war.

We will vote for Kerry.

May I just say that alienating many by just making fun of them and using tactics of humiliation makes this board look silly.

Most of us are pretty mature and sensible in our postings. Today I have seen a whole contingent of people here referred to as sore loserman types, or just plain losers.

There is a difference between saying a speech is good, and just absolutely acting superior to others who have questions.

That is what makes people angry, and it often causes some to post more negative things than they otherwise would. If you want unity and all-togetherness, perhaps some of you should hold your nose and be tolerant of others here.

1. i agree, sometimes it's very difficult to communicate in writing
with none of the body language and vocal nuances that take the sting out of words

3. Did I miss something?
I have never seen this board more united than during the convention.

4. I agree Madfloridian
If we can't be tolerant of those here on DU who hold differing views....what hope is there?

There were/are a lot here who are not convinced that Kerry is our "Dem savior" or even the best choice....but if they want our votes....no need to get a 'tude about it.....

(You are referring to a certain "clothespin" thread if I am surmising correctly)

Peace
DR

7. What was done was NOT disagreement.
It was so far out of line that I could not believe it was not deleted. Calling our own Democrats sore losermans. and other things. This was not disagreement and you well know it. It was humiliation tactics being used against others.

9. No, disagreeing isn't...but
putting people down and making unkind comments about them is showing no tolerance...

Trying to make this a group think board is disappointing...but I suppose understandable since everyone has been caught up in the "excitement" of the dem convention this past week......

Peace

12. I stayed out of the clothes pin thread until just now
All this superiority is so transparent, I know which threads are poisonous. LOL

Because when I see such BS - it just makes me wanna stay home on Nov 2nd, or pull the lever for someone else, and I know that is not an option, but my anger makes me wanna lash out.

8. On Nov 2nd I will vote for Kerry, on Nov 3rd
hopefully the media will say he has won. On January 20th I may march in protest, and on January 21st I will be that irritating, scratchy hair shirt. I trust Kerry more than shrub, but I will be just as vocal about his shortcomings as I have been about the current regime.

The convention was great because the people were energized. One speech that does not put me to sleep, does not a great candidate make.
I hope, pray, and want to believe Kerry is half the man all the speeches at the Convention claimed.

All of us know that 4 more years of W will be the end of our country, as we know it, and hopefully the Kerry/ Edwards campaign will save us from that. Kucinich and Dean supporters want more than for Kerry to STOP W!

10. Well said! [applause applause]
Me too....
"Kucinich and Dean supporters want more than for Kerry to STOP W!"

Cause stopping him and still continuing the same policies is not enough...it only slows the rush to the cliff down a bit.

Peace

11. What I wanna hear Kerry say
is that he'll go through every executive order that shrub ever made and cancel them. I want him to get with Tom Daschle and Nancy Pelosi and have them scour all the worst laws that have been passed the last 3 plus years, and work on revoking or amending them. I want Kerry to call on Congress to send to him clean bills - one topic, no riders, no pork, and that every congress person HAS to read and be able to write a 1 page summary of said bills. I want Kerry to tell Democratic Congress people to wean themselves from lobbyists' money, and once a week to mention on the Senate and House floors who is still talking to lobbyists before constituents. I want Kerry to appoint an FCC head who will roll back the ownership rules and reinstate the Fairness doctrine.

I could go on and on about what I wanna hear and haven't yet, but you get the idea. I want more than to stop w - I want to reverse as much of the harm w has done as quickly as humanly possible!

13. I always felt that Kerry was the best...
candidate to beat Bush, but I voted for Dennis Kucinich. Dennis spoke for me and for what I believed in. I just didn't think he would appeal to Middle America. I felt Kerry would.

Kerry has experience in winning elections and is very intelligent. I felt he would be a great candidate, but I was so glad there were people like Kucinich and Dean to help pull the Democratic Party closer to the side of the people.

I listened to the speech Kerry made to the Senate after he came home from Vietnam. It made me cry and remember how much I honored Vets who spoke against the war. It took a lot of guts to speak against that war for vets. It took a lot of guts to even admit to oneself that the war they had put their lives on the line for was wrong. I can only hope that there is some of that young man from the late 60s still alive in Kerry of the 2000s.

His acceptance speech was amazing. I hope he doesn't break my heart by being a typical, dishonest politician like the rest of them. I really hope he lives up to the his speech. I know that will be impossible if we don't make sure there are people in Congress to help him, but some honesty and intelligence in the white house will almost be enough.
