Daily Record in Morris County, NJ:
To the Editor:
There are a few points Kathi9e Wright ("Moore a True Patriot") needs to keep in mind when she publishes her next movie review. First, the movie she saw is a compilation of news clips assembled in a certain way. It's a production technique used to trick the viewer. This is far from a documentary (see Jacques Cousteau).
Second, Moore makes films for one reason: profit. That helps Moore, not America. It's not as if any of his stuff is on Channel 13 or in the National Geographic.
Now that the 9/11 Commission Report is out, Moore is debunked. He asserts, for example, that the 2001 Afghan War was about the Bush administration's desire to build an oil pipeline. We now know this notion had its roots in Clinton-era diplomatic initiative and there was never much chance of it actually being built. He also implies that Saudi officials flew out of the U.S. while our airspace was closed down to avoid questioning by the FBI. The commission found each item of this indictment to be false. The Commission also found th at the Clinton Administration received all types of red flags since the World Trade Center was bombed in 1993, but took no action.
Do you think if I put a few clips of Clinton hugging Lewinsky and Sandy Berger playing golf with Richard Clarke in front of new footage of people running out of the World Trade Cente in 1993, I could get $22 from people willing to believe the story?
