Only four counties out of 88 are still considering them.

Voting Machines Not Ready
Most Ohioans who still vote by punch card will be seeing them again in November.

Plans to replace the punch-card systems with electronic voting machines have fizzled to the point that only four of Ohio's 88 counties will consider the idea for the November election.

The four counties -- Hardin, Lorain, Mercer and Trumbull -- must decide after the state completes a test of the machines, made by North Canton-based Diebold. The secretary of state's office says the tests should be completed by July 19th.

As many as 31 counties were prepared to switch from punch cards and lever voting devices to electronic machines, but the number has dwindled to four. The rest of the state must complete the conversion to electronic machines by the 2006 primary election.

1. two of those four are important
Democratic counties. Trumbull (Warren) and Lorain have significant Democratic votes. Hardin and Mercer are boonies. If we can swing Lorain and Trumbull to stay away from the machines we will be fine.

4. I also live close to Trumbull County
and there is no legitimate way it would go Bush but if these machines are fraudulent that is a different story.
