Best anti-Bush book?
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 09:37 AM by DaveSZ
I need some help with a father's day present!

What is the best anti-Bush book out there?

Here are some of the ones I'm looking at:

2. Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 09:11 AM by King Of Paperboys
To quote Howard Stern:

"If you read this book, you will never vote for George W. Bush again."

Three days later, he was removed from 6 Clear Channel stations.

It's hella-funny... and scary.

Edited because you posted that while I was typing. Dangit!

Perhaps you will consider "Exception to the Rulers, " by Amy Goodman of Pacifica Radio's "Democracy Now!" It's also a scathing indictment of all things W.

5. .
I bought Lies and the Lying Liars for my father last year.

He loved it, so I'm thinking I'll do the same again.

I'm leaning towards House of Bush House of Saud.

7. "Dude, Where's My Country?" is pretty good.
It's not as good as Franken's book, but you already have that one. "Stupid White Men" is better too, but it's not as current.

you might want to go with THE BUSH DYNASTY

a 'weightier' read than WORSE THAN WATERGATE

I'm waiting for HOUSE OF BUSH/SAUD so I can't comment on that one yet.

13. "The Bush-Hater's Handbook" is a good primer-
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 09:16 AM by Beware the Beast Man
It's an issue by issue reference manual on how bad this administration has screwed up. It's only a year old, but some things may be dated by now. Here's a link:

20. Has anyone read Kucinich's book?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1560255102/qid=1087482219/sr=5-3/ref=cm_lm_asin/102-6361954-9073764?v=glance

Book Description
When Congressman Dennis Kucinich delivered his speech, "A Prayer for America," to the Southern California chapter of Americans for Democratic Action, it electrified the whole country. In his speech, Kucinich—a 2004 presidential candidate—warned against an America that had discarded the constitutional liberties integral to its identity: "Let us pray that our nation will remember that the unfolding of the promise of democracy in our nation paralleled the striving for civil rights. That is why we must challenge the rationale of the Patriot Act. We must ask why should America put aside guarantees of constitutional justice?" A Prayer for America collects Kucinich’s essays and speeches. It represents his holistic worldview and carries with it a passionate commitment to public service, peace, human rights, workers’ rights, and the environment. His advocacy of a Department of Peace seeks not only to make nonviolence an organizing principle in our society, but to make war a thing of the past. A Prayer for America includes an introductory essay from Kucinich that reflects on his political journey from his election as the youngest mayor of a major American city to his role as a dynamic, visionary leader of the Progressive Caucus of the Congressional Democrats.

21. Do read "American Dynasty" by Kevin Phillips for some great insights.
Never, in a million years, would I have thought to recommend a book written by a conservative. But, oh boy, is this a great book about Bush and the Bush family. Very important read.
