More Evidence Of The Chimps SEVERE PERSONALITY DISORDER!
With apologies to the poster Mechatanketra who actually pointed this out in another thread in Editorials.

Original thread here:

From this Newsweek article, which is well worth the read:

"The one and only time I interviewed Mr. Bush, when he was running in 2000, he called me by the wrong name several times, which was no big deal, and I didn’t correct him. But after this went on for a while, his adviser Karen Hughes, who was sitting in on the interview, finally said: “Governor, her name’s not Alison, it’s Melinda.”

“I think I know what her name is; we just had lunch last week,” Bush responded. “Your name IS still Melinda, isn’t it?”

“Yes.”

“You haven’t changed it since last week?”

“No.”

“OK, then. Glad we got that cleared up.”

Hughes persisted, though. “Governor, you were calling her Alison.”

“I wasn’t calling HER Alison,” he said, with apparent conviction. “I was calling YOU Alison.”

At the time, I thought this was very funny. But now I’m not so sure. I keep wondering what has become of the “humble” foreign policy Bush talked about during the 2000 campaign. Yes, 9/11 has changed our president’s view of the world and given him a new sense of mission—of “crusade” as he once said. Yet it has not altered just-war theory or the rule of law—-which in the absence of personal humility, or any doubts about right action, seem particularly useful guideposts."

3. It makes me wonder
If he's really that mentally warped or if he's so arrogant he doesn't care enough to get a person's name right. It's tough to know for sure.

4. And I Thought Reagan Was
Looney. He was visibly senile during his Presidency, but Shrub has so many mental problems that it is hard to get a read on him.

9. Wow!
excerpt (and there is so much more)from:

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000771.htm

Patients often attempt to hide their poor memory by confabulating. The patient will create detailed, believable stories about experiences or situations to cover gaps in memory. This is not usually a deliberate attempt to deceive because the patient often believes what he is saying to be true. It can occur whether or not the thiamine deficiency was related to alcoholism and with other types of brain damage.

Korsakoff psychosis involves damage to areas of the brain involved with memory.

Symptoms

* Vision changes
o Double vision
o Eye movements abnormalities
o Eyelid drooping
* Loss of muscle coordination
o Unsteady, uncoordinated walking
* Loss of memory, can be profound
* Inability to form new memories
* Confabulation (making up stories to explain behavior that have little relation to reality)
* Hallucinations

Note: Symptoms that indicate alcohol withdrawal may also be present or may develop.

11. Scarily accurate -- this could explain a lot
It's always been a puzzle to me why Bush seems to just plain make up transparently false stories.

The fib about seeing the first plane hitting the World Trade Center (and saying that a tv was "obviously" on in the school hallway) is only the best known. There was another example in last month's press conference, when Bush was asked a question about the August 6, 2001 briefing and answered something like, "I obviously only found out today."

I've assumed he was just a compulsive liar, and that he was using the word "obviously" to maintain a certain deniability. But if he actually has massive memory gaps and is filling them in with stories which he himself believes, that would explain a lot.

It would also make it more terrifying than ever to have the country and the world at the mercy of such a man.

8. Henneberger now questions Bush's "humility"?
During election 2000 she covered Gore for the NYT. She crucified him, and made up or distorted anecdotes that were supposed to reveal Gore as a serial liar. Do a search over at thedailyhowler.com for all the sordid details. Among her Gore canards were "Love Story" and "Love Canal." She worked purposefully to see that Bush got elected. Imagine the ink Henneberger would have devoted to dissecting Gore if HE had been the one to mistate her name and then--whether because of pride or arrogance or alcohol-induced brain damage--deny he had done so. I have to believe it's Bush sinking poll has inspired Henneberger to suddenly ruminate on Bush's character flaws. Funny that this didn't come up before.

I suppose one should be happy that even the whores are turning on Bush, but all I feel is disgust and anger.
