...to prove they didn't fake the warning? After about noon yesterday, I went the rest of the day without news, working in the woods, and when I finally clicked on at 10:30 pm, there was everybody bitching about the dubious terra alert. Surprise, surprise, we were right yet again! The last news alert I saw said Ashcroft was already offering the idea that by simply making the terra alert announcement, they may have already stopped some evil doers from carrying out their nefarious deeds against the good Christian citizens of America. "Oh, shit! Here they go again!" was my first thought. They're going to try to take credit for something they know no one can prove one way or another! Certainly nothing new for the Bushies, but not all that outside of their usual playbook. But this just seemed particulary vile and cynical, for some reason.
Then I got to thinking (I've
got to stop doing that!); these dumb fucks, always playing by the seat of their policy pants, making it up as they go along, based upon up-to-the-minute polls, might now think they actually must fake something to stop -- you know, for the cameras. No one is buying it anymore when five fat old Bush appointees interrupt the soaps to announce that they have protected us through their vaguery. They need
visuals, dammit! Some public safety person Bush can put his arm around again...'cept, the firefighters and police unions have all turned on Bush. Everyone has turned on Bush, because he has lied to us all so many times.
We've known it for ages. But, when will the pubbies ever learn?
Or, when will
we learn to stop thinking they will ever learn?
It is like watching a very dark episode of
Leave It To Beaver, and the Beav (the Bush?) keeps telling lie after lie to cover some lame little prank he and Larry Mondelo did, until it is all so obvious a laugh riot ensues.
Except, we're not laughing, Beav...er, Bush.
