So, we're going to tear down Abu Graib but then...
...we're going to build a new maximum security prison in its place? Is that what I just heard on AirAmerica. I didn't hear Bush's speech last night but Franken just played a snippet and in it (if I heard correctly) Bush says that we're going to build a new prison in Iraq. Is that supposed to reassure anyone? So, I guess now prisoners can be tortured in a brand new prison. Is this progress?

would this be in effect hiding the evidence?

What if there is forensic evidence that can be gathered from the prison that would be of use in prosecuting war crimes...

2. That could be something to consider.

Why tear down one prison just to build another one. Oh, DUH!!! As soon as I typed that it occured to me that someone will be making a lot of money building a new prison over there. The Bushies will have their cake and eat it too. They will get to make the symbolic gesture of tearing down a reminder of Saddam's regime and then they'll no doubt have their fingers in the pie when the new prison starts construction.

4. They should renovate it again and make it a hospital or recreation center
in honor of all the abused prisoners who have come through there, either under Saddam or Bush. Give some respect and honor to Iraqis instead of strong-arm tactics.

5. how stupid is this?
It's like saying, "My husband and I were having marital problems, so we decided to tear down our house and build another one. Problem solved!"
