Christians look to form 'new nation' within U.S.
where can I contribute to these morans leaving my country

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38571

Calling the approval of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts "the straw that broke the camel's back," a group of Christian activists is in the beginning stages of an effort to have one state secede from the United States to become its own sovereign nation.

"Our Christian republic has declined into a pagan democracy," says Cory Burnell, president of ChristianExodus.org, a non-profit corporation based in Tyler, Texas. "There are some issues people just can't take anymore, and might finally wake up the complacent Christians."

Texas scrub is plentiful and cheap. Plus it's a lot hard to destroy the environment since there isn't much environment there to destroy.

I wish they would just leave the non-secular America for another country. Why stay here and create more enemies? We will not allow a seperation of our country to fit their needs. They need to go elsewhere. The sooner the better.

18. lord knows i hate all things religous, but i disagree with most here...
... when people on your team are screwing up, you fix and help them, you don't pack them off, you don't kill them.... we're here to help each other dammit - and the religous wackos are in some of the greatest need of help...

dammit, we're all americans, we're all on the same team, tho we often don't get along so well. our job should be to find ways to work together, not find ways to achieve "purity"....

i like the sports analogy - lotsa bigtime sports duos didn't care for each other personally, but for the greater team good, they were able to stifle their personal conflicts, and function excellently as a duo/team.

to allow secession means that america has failed - worse, it means that americans fucking *gave up* on america - fuck that - no secession in lincoln's time, and no secession in my time....

phew - lol

21. these people need medication more than anything
they're suffering from a form of mass schizophrenia.

It's not unlike the thousands of people who in the 1800's fell for the belief that the rapture was coming. They all sold or gave away their possessions and waited for the date when it was supposed to happen.

It didn't happen and they all looked like idiots.

It was a similar sort of mass-delusional phenomenon.

43. How?

How do we "fix" these people? They seem to have a major problem living in a society where people have liberties that run afoul of their personal beliefs.

If they are really that unhappy living in a free society they need to go. I agree that it isn't necessarily a good idea for them to take a state with them, but nonetheless, they need to go.

If this were to happen, we would need to institute strict border control policies. We have already suffered major terrorist attacks by religious fundamentalists, we don't need any more.

27. what i take from this...
is that the "family values" issues have overtaken real issues. gay marriage is related to civil rights, and important, but is it as important as going to war in violation of international law, subversion of the bill of rights? These people are the perfect constituency, their "faith" programs them and tells them not to question their leaders. If their leaders tell them that "our christian republic has declined into a pagan democracy," they believe it. even if the truth is that we do not have democracy in this country, and the republic was overthrown in 2000 by the very people who are now telling them gay marriage is more important than the wars and domestic policy. i find it very funny that these people have been programed and rewired to the point they could suggest forming a new nation within the u.s., as if that would be allowed from a territorial standpoint. imagine a group of left libertarians (or right libertarians for that matter) saying they were going to set up a government free zone within the territorial u.s. they would be dead or in jail licket-e-split. (i did not read the link, too ridiculous) the other option to forming a christian nation within the u.s. is to form organizations within the state apparatus allah (pun intended) gw bush and his group of fundies. once they have enough political power they can force our secular republic to decline to the state of a christian theocracy. of course this last point is nothing new. this is a serious topic i thought i would throw in my 2 cents.

God does talk to Bush, right? Bush was called by God, right?

Et voila--a new nation with the U.S. has been formed.

34. Good...they're taking initiative & not telling the rest of us to leave
Hallelujah, Praise any and all powers above. For once, they are getting the idea. Instead of expecting everyone they do not agree with to leave "their country," some fundimentalist pricks are taking the initative and realizing that maybe THEY could leave the country. I personally think it is a stupid cop out how people of their ilk expect us all to worship Bush or leave "their" country. But hey...if they want to go under their own power, let 'em. Then they can have the protestant theocracy they want, where nobody is free to worship, the women can all be barefoot and pregnant and covered in acres of cloth, and "men can be men." No gay people, no biological evolution taught in schools, church attendance by gunpoint. The rest of us can get on and advance with the rest of the world, while they fester in a replay of the dark ages. Its what they want after all.
