Kerry may delay official nomination
I apologize if this was already posted - but I didn't see it. In case it is a dupe, I didn't post in breaking news.

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/05/22/kerry_may_delay_official_nomination/

Senator John F. Kerry may delay his nomination as the Democratic presidential standard-bearer in Boston this July in order to deprive President Bush of a significant spending advantage during the final phase of the campaign.

We won't fight this election with one hand behind our back," Cutter said. She said that delaying the nomination is just one strategy under consideration.

It is still being discussed, and no one is sure it is actually permissible. I am glad to see Kerry's people are thinking outside the box.

1. Screwball, or smart?
Yeah, I've seen this on the news.
If the Dems don't spin it right, it could backfire.

They would blow a lot of media attention on the convention. . .

However, talk about this is gonna really upset Rove.

3. Kerry................
is at a severe disadvantage if he accepts at the convention. Bush would have 5 weeks to use his fomidable warchest full of corporate cash to bambard Kerry until the Federal guidelines kick in. This would be a smart move in my opinion, but he must make it perfectly clear why he made this decision.
Not only are the Rethugs trying to cash in on 9/11 in NYC, but they want to outspend Kerry within that 5 week time frame about 100:1. We have to find someway to combat these liars and cheaters.

not he says "I accept the nomination."

Can't he give a rousing exciting speech without those wordS?

And anyway, shouldn't the general election start at the same time for both parties? Sept 1 sounds like a good day to start the public finance part.
