How & when will we KNOW that bush is Toast?
Edited on Tue May-18-04 04:13 PM by Bundbuster
Yesterday my puritanical, 91 year-old, lifetime repub mother said she couldn't stand to watch his SMIRK on TV, and called him a "piece of shit." I thought those were good signs.

In his "Crisis Papers" column today, Bernard Weiner suggests that THIS may be evidence of the tipping point:

"Conservatives are starting, in public, to raise serious questions about Bush&Co.'s competency, and even about the Administration's underlying extremist policies. When Speaker Hastert made remarks critical of the White House crew to his colleagues at a closed GOP caucus the other day, loud cheers and applause broke out from the assembled conservative members of the House."

What events are you looking for to signal his unrecoverable demise?

22. Not even then
When the Bush crowd actually vacate the White House and their offices at the Pentagon etc. and Dumbass's helicopter takes him back to the prop "ranch" in Texas.

4. One of the best indicators:
Poll numbers right after labor day. If Bush*s approval ratings are still under 45% then, pop the champagne corks. Even then, though, the Repugs could pull some stunt to steal the election.

So maybe the only real way is the day after the election when Kerry has 360 confirmed electoral votes!

13. How long did it take for USSR to recast Kruschev and Stalin?
The Republicans went so deep into cult worship of *bush jr., it will take a major propaganda effort to detach and make him a non-person.

I remember seeing a political cartoon from the 1950's(?) showing a Soviet classroom. The teacher instructing: "Skip the chapter on Stalin, we're re-writing that."

14. Will it Matter?
I think this bunch will do whatever it takes to stay in power.

There will be some kind of manufactured constitutional crisis this summer (terror-related, or other). This crisis will result in the suspension of the United States Constitution. The election will be "postponed indefinitely."

The Bush family will then become the American equivalent of the Somozas.

Renew your passports while there is still time :)

case, even though bush is starting to char around the edges, I won't be certain he's done until Kerry is sworn in Jan'05 and the country is still standing.

23. the earliest possible indication that he is toast will come
when the press turns on him, and like sharks in a feeding frenzy, rip him to shreds--are there any indications of that yet? Failing that, well, he'll be toast when they drag him blubbering out of the white house.

24. After he loses the lawsuit January 19th
Kerry will win, and the Repukes will contest the election all the way to the Supreme Court.
Sensing that a large portion of the country has turned on him, SCOTUS will rule against him for the good of the country.

They gave him the keys to the car once, and he just did doughnuts on the White House front lawn and challenged other world leaders to drag races. They will send him to his ranch without supper this time. Bad Georgie!

I'll believe he's gone when he and Pickles proudly wave goodbye like Pat and Tricky Dick getting into the chopper.

I believe that when you see more than just a few repub Congresscritters & Sinators criticizing bu$hCorp policies OTHER THAN IRAQ, he's burnt toast. They may use code words or side-door approaches, but I think that's the death-knell.

27. I will celebrate when CBS projects Kerry as the winner, in a landslide,
on election night. That will be good enough for me. Bush will be absolutely powerless after that. He won't be able to pick a fight with my mother, let along start another war.

I have no friggin' intention of waiting until January to celebrate. Absolutely none at all.

The likelihood of Chimpy:

a) Conceding defeat

or

b) Doing ANYTHING graciously

is, well... I'd buy lottery tickets before taking odds on either of those.

32. I'm sure bush* has plans in place
to make sure that he isn't "toast". Another 9/11 so he can impose martial law, suspend the Constitution and remain in power. No doubt plans are already in the works for that scenario. These evil bastards aren't gonna give up power, no way, no how. That should be obvious to anyone who has been paying attention for the last 3+ years. Unfortunately most in this Country aren't.

33. Just check out our toasted bushes!
We pulled 'em out in protest to our deranged pro-war neighborhood (we need more bushes campaign) and are letting 'em dry out for full public viewing. They will be used for compost later. Replaced "W" and "Jeb" with JFK and Marilyn Monrose teacup roses. Boy they sure get in on together! (Sorry Jackie!) Jeb and W are doing nothing, like during the Viet Nam war.
