1. The field tests are notoriously unreliable
and to date, not one of the lab tests have come back positive when a field test read positive.

2. Well the wingnuts got off on it anyway.
How many times have we had a story in the morning and nothing about it is true? "Never mind"

3. We've seen this repeatedly...
...and notoriously, headlines and trumpeted, with the later disclaimer that the field tests yielded false positives buried on page A20 below the fold. Remember the barrels of deadly biotoxins that turned out to be rat poison? How about those tubes that had "residue indicative of use as chemical warheads" that turned out to be rusty buried shells? How about the "RC Plane of Mass Destruction" that turned out to be...an RC Plane? Or the "centrifuge elements" buried for 10+ years in some guys backyard. Yeah, I'll believe it when Bush takes a whif of it...

4. I sent the article off to fox news with a brief but scathing comment..
I imagine they caught on.
