Enough of this ludicrous folly.

Maybe he wouldn't, but ask yourself this: who does the killin' round hear? I doubt McCain would have anything to do with it or even know it--I dislike him, but he's not that kind of person--but others would see a welcome opportunity. The joke might be on them, because McCain might not be the lapdog they expect, but it'll be a lot safer for him than Dems running the show.

The right is terrified now, and they cannot allow themselves to fail; the things they've done must never see the light of day, and they will be absolutely ruthless this time around. They HAVE to keep control; certain things can't get out.

Are you willing to open us up to this opportunity? Do you think it's totally far fetched?

3. That's what I said in another thread
He would have to hire hundreds of guards to protect him and then he couldn't trust some of the guards either.

7. I agree with you
The republicans would allow Kerry to take office and then put a hit out on him immediately afterwords.

6. I just think this McCain bullshit is exactly that
bullshit.

Complete and utter bullshit. Kerry wouldn't pick him, McCain wouldn't do it anyway, it is a BAAAAD idea ALLLL around.

McCain was JUST on Fux News saying he "stands behind bush's policies in Iraq".

Um, ok, yeah HE needs to be on the Dem ticket.

Like I need a blood parasite.

13. Correcto-mundo, Pick a Minority + Insurance
Picking McCAIN (why?), it would mean sure-fire wingut assassination to get a Repuke pResident.

Picking RICHARDSON, "insurance" (no assassination) (Nobody wants an Hispanic pResident).

The wingnuts are THINKING, "Who do WE want as VP to REPLACE JK?"

14. Hey, McCain needs to be kept in reserve for plan B.
If that horrible day comes when Bush/Cheney "win" the 2004 election, we need to immediately implement the "Agnew-Nixon" replacement strategy. That is, focus on Cheney's dark deeds, get incontrovertible proof of as many as possible, and scare him into resigning. Assuming Congress is still divided reasonably closely (i.e. there are enough Democrats and moderate Repubs. to make a difference) McCain would be the logical nominee for replacement VP.

THEN go after Bush. Impeachment, or ??? (Nixon would have been impeached if he hadn't resigned. He didn't want to risk that, and I doubt Shrub would do so either, given the number of things he has to hide.)

McCain would not be nearly my first choice as president, but he'd be a damned sight better than what we have now. I don't think he'd "support" Bush's war on his own, if party "loyalty" wasn't at stake. He has some integrity, and real friends on the other side of the aisle. So let's keep this in mind in case worse-comes-to-worse in the election.
