Over in the Ask the Administrators forum, someone asked me how many people visit DU. This being a fund drive week, he was curious about how big the universe of potential DU donors is.

We don't have a precise picture of how many people visit DU. But here are a few interesting stats:

In any given day, we log 4,700 unique IP addresses from registered members. That number doesn't include guests who haven't registered or haven't logged in.

In the average day, we log at least 18,000 unique IP addresses on our website. That is a low-ball estimate based on our weekly number of unique IPs. The real number for each day is probably much higher than that. Maybe 30,000.

On an average weekday afternoon, we have well over 2,000 people logged on at any moment. If everyone on DU right now were to donate right now, we would more than double our donation goal for the entire week. We could end our fund drive right now.

There are still lots of people out there who haven't donated yet. Maybe you intend to donate, but you've been putting it off. Maybe you were waiting for payday. Or maybe you've been so engrossed in reading the message board that you couldn't pull yourself away for five minutes in order to send in a few bucks. There's no minimum donation, so even if you've only got $5 or less to spare, you can help us reach our goal.

You've been putting it off all week. Please take a moment to donate to DU right now.

13. My Plea for DU

I know for a fact DU is the enemy of the right winged basket cases.
When a little teeny newspaper in Georgia calls DU the ANTI BUSH site and gaining momentum since the torture scandal and how unamerican we all are, then that forced me to get local and vocal. I had been National and Vocal but I stood up for DU and sites who have the right not to drink the Koolaid and still be American and even more patriotic than those claiming patriotism and clearly hate America.
I kicked in a little money this month and hope to every month, even with my Mother dying two weeks ago and unexpected expenses. Please give generously and please order the Take it Back Cd so I can sent 10 percent to DU from the sales. Other Percentages go to The Guy James Show. We must take this country back and I just talked to the DNC and told them the grassroots movement was trying to get the message out for change. Please order the CD and I will be able to send this site more money with each order. Thanks
