Daily Dose of Reality Thread.

McCain is a prick and deserves our contempt, not our praise. He has supported Bush every step of the way.

He will deserve my support when he helps gets Democrats elected and denounces his crooked, lying party.

He doesn't get my support by throwing some of the gullible people in my party a bone here and there, than getting Repukes elected left and right to rape our country.

That is all.

1. Darn tootin!
He may not be an insane doomsday cultist like so many other members of his party, but he still is a republican whore none the less...

2. No, he hasn't
He voted against the tax cut when Democrats where bending over for it.

He fought for campaign finace reform.

He did an honorable thing by walking out today. I wish a Democrat had the fucking spine.

He defended Kerry, and slammed his own party.

He is a thorn in their side and they despise him.

Like him or not, it's all good for us, period. He's not even a Democrat and he can be on our side on various issues. I have no problem with that, at all.

3. You know what would REALLY be a thorn in their side?

Democrat John McCain.

Until than, no dice.

And he walked out today because he had to take a piss. That's what he said on Larry King.

He defended Kerry, and than CAMPAIGNED for Bush.

Once again...when one of the local gang members throws you a beer after they kick your ass, they are still KICKING YOUR ASS.

5. I just need to fix one thing
He campaigned for Bush, then defended Kerry. He hasn't been out campaigning for Bush since the democratic primaries.

10. Don't let me stop you
From looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I expect nothing from the Republicans, so I don't bitch when one of them actually helps my Party or one of my causes. I must be nuts.

6. You seem to think
That we should have a one party state.

That's not how it works, you know.

I will take a Republican Senator who will occasionally vote with my side over the Borg rethuglican who will vote the party line even if it broke every law known to man.

We have real enemies on the other side, dangerous people. Then there are the few left who are simply Republicans, they don't see things as we do and they may be wrong, but they are not evil incarnate. McCain is one of those.

Nobody remembers what good things McCain might have said campaigning for Bush.

Everybody knows he publicly defended Kerry, and even the Democratic Party. If I were Bush, I wouldn't love having "friends" like McCain.

9. Hear, hear!
Damn straight. He's hand-in-glove with the reactionaries, and if his stances are properly analyzed, it's not just because he's an ally. The guy's anti-choice, hardcore right on most issues, and merely libertarian enough around the edges and miffed on the subject of campaign finance that he gets some bizarre free pass from many on the left. He's a skunk too. Nice smile, and a sweet look in his eyes, but he's a pro-business, straight-laced bot just like many ex-military from military families.

He's not a friend of the poor, the worker, the non-straight or the non-believer. Why are so many people snowed? Worse than anything, when it comes down to it, he'll march through a mile of mud for these criminals and consider it a virtue, just like Colin Powell.

11. Then don't vote for him
Oh, wait. He's a Republican!

All this criticism would be valid if he was a Democrat.

He's a Republican who helps us, on occasion, and annoys Bush to no end. I think that's, well, helpful, not something to complain about.

13. I doubt John McCain will ever become a Democrat.
And, he's a war hawk. However, he's honorable. We need honorable Republicans. It's a balance thing.
