How has the once-great American Military sunk to such despicable depths? I am not talking about every American troop who bravely serves our Nation. I am talking about the commanding officers, the NCOs who allowed American troops to torture, murder and rape innocent people.
Sixty percent of the captives of Abu Ghraib prison are judged not a threat to Iraq's security and released. After they have been tortured and raped, we give them ten dollars and send them home.
Is this why four mercenaries (not contract workers as the White House has sanitized the profession) were killed, burned and drug through the streets? Was th is Iraqi street-justice for their sons and daughters being tortured, raped and murdered while in American custody?
Amnesty International and other human rights organizations have been reporting these abuses almost since the fall of Baghdad.
The Bush Administration has just blown-off the only leg they were standing on: The "revisionist" story that we freed the Iraqis because Saddam tortured and murdered his own people. Saddam's sons had rape rooms, remember?
We are preparing to try Saddam for crimes against the Iraqi people. Some of those crimes are the torture, rape and murder of the Iraqi people.
Will bush, Cheny and the offending military personnel go on trial for the same crimes?
It is time to bring our military personnel home from Bush's quagmire and hold him personally responsible for the actions of people under his command.
