Bush Tells Arab TV Prison Torture Does "Not Represent the America I Know."
Edited on Wed May-05-04 10:21 AM by BurtWorm
The people of Iraq "must understand that what took place in that prison does not represent the America that I know."

That must be so reassuring, coming from the boy.

Edited on Wed May-05-04 10:25 AM by seabeyond
and.........i say he knew and everything points that not only he knew, but they sit it up this way. and i am not going to honor this crap he didnt know

they had contract labor there specifically to allow someone else who would not be accountable to do this

second, they are sending afghanistan prisoners elsewhere for torture

guantonimo, the have gone to court battle and have implemented some act to be able to totally deny any responsibility in what they do with the prisoners

they had the report in febraury adn did nothing, and supposedly not even read

so, they knew. and i am not going to pretent otherwise.

4. It's all about George, isn't it?
We all must understand that god-given George is not represented by anything bad. He is always good. It is we who are bad. Never George.

8. to apologize would admit he was wrong
"must understand" is too commanding

the world knows the America he knows, and it's not pretty ... and, the world knows it's all one big lie, and anything he utters is untrustworthy

he wants to play dress-up CinC ... the buck stops there

He wants to represent he is somehow connected to the sentiments of Americans-bullshit.
Any American would have blown their top the moment this information landed on their desk.

He is only aware of CNN-corporatism, hardly america. Racism and
thuggery are the very roots of american police-state society. His
party is a gang of thugs and uses bullying and war constantly to
achieve his ends domestic and foreign... hmmm... he must not know
shiiiit. ... what a filthy criminal he is.

12. Bush does NOT represent the America that I know.
Bush represents everything that I despise. I despise self-righteous ego maniacs, liars, murderers and hypocrites. Bush is an active alcoholic who is determined to destroy America. Wonder why we are not seeing Poppy Bush right now? He is probably so ashamed of his demon spawn that he can not show his face.

13. NO Apology, NO admission of American complicity,
Not even a nod towards the allegations of misconduct in other prisons in Iraq. He said that there was NO definitive proof of any misconduct at all.

I guess the fucking pictures weren't enough.

This non-apology only went out on an American-owned station and one independent station (and of course, neither was Al-Jazeera). I think that this statement will only serve to inflame the Middle East even more.

Does Bush think that Arabs are stupid?

Bush* takes no responsibility for ANYTHING. He couldn't name ONE mistake he's made in 3 years.

That's frightening.

I thought maybe he would try to tell the truth because, it might have convinced some Arabs not to kill Americans.

I know. I know. It's a stupid hope.

16. ..but it's the America he fantasizes about. That's for sure!
The buck stops there. The blame travels up. If those fuckwads in the GOP can say that Clinton is responsible for everything that has gone wrong in the US since he left, then BUSH needs to take responsibility for what is happening under his (snicker) "leadership".

24. Just another Bush lie
Of course it represents the America he knows. It represents the America he's been trying to create, one with no respect for law, individual freedoms, international accords, etc. etc. etc. It's a natural result of every attitude he's copped and every treaty he's trampled on. That's why Rumsfeld's statement that the torture is "un-American" is equally specious. That kind of behaviour used to be un-American. Now, it's American -- it's Bush's America. Who else is doing it?

26. VERY reassuring coming from a previous governor dubbed "Texecutioner"
.
.
.

"I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided to put to death." Just before her execution date, Tucker appealed for clemency on the grounds that she had become a born-again Christian. Bush's reply: " `Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, `don't kill me,' "

George W. Bush has a very weak grasp of the idea "freedom" and its significance in this country. George W. Bush also seems to lack an understanding of the meaning of satire. Humor does require a measure of intelligence.

Personally, just the fact that GeeDubya even got into office, nevermind the disturbing fact that he is still in office, indicates there is a real problem with American "democracy"

(sigh)
