What information were they trying to extract from the Iraqi POW?
In the prison, I assume these were not theives and muggers, but people from whom they wanted information.

What kind of information did they want? Where to locate Baathists, or radical muslims? Or could it be that Bush and Co. were trying to find out about WMD.

Were they resorting to brutality because of their desperation about not finding WMD? Just a horrible thought.

2. Nancy once you think the worst you can
it can and it will get worst.

But one thing they were doing is looking for WMDs... of that
you can BET on it.

And all of the above also apply....

4. I've about given up on the press,
but don't you think it would be a big story angle if this were to come out? I mean, the shame that it would bring on Bush.

3. What info did they want from the woman they raped
I suspect the info they wanted was where they could get their rocks off while letting go of a little steam since they were supposed to go home twice and their government delayed it.

Let me ask DU'ers this: If someone hooked you up to electrodes threatening electrocution, raped you, had you engage in sexual activity mocked or otherwise under the threat of grave physical injury, shoved lightbulbs up your ass and brooomsticks, wouldn't you tell them any fucking thing they wanted to hear even if it were a flat out lie? I would.

5. and on further thought
How much of this info obtained was used to justify murdering civilians under the guise that they were acting on "intelligence?"

8. Humm but that would be the
"rogue" theory. That it was not a systematic effort and that it was just done by some bad eggs.

What if it were a systematic and approved action to get WMD information because they were desperate?

I'm just speculating. Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

15. I doubt it sincerely
The main reason to torture prisoners isn't to extract anything from them but to intimidate the rest of the population whether it be within the prison walls or outside.

In fact, some of the reports indicate that some of these people were exacted this punishment for trying to escape or for strting insurrections within the prison...not because they had valuable information.

13. Who cares what information they wanted?
A crime is a crime. Brutality is brutality. Torture is torture. These instances are significant violations of the Geneva Convention. If it happens to Americans, every politician -- Democratic and Republican -- would be calling for the worst punishment possible.

18. One was an innocent passenger in a stolen taxi, according to an interview
he did which was on NBC nightly news. He was thrown in jail and forgotten about until a fight broke out over a "pretty female guard" when he was taken out of his area, and "punished" He is the one where the England bitch had her picture taken pointing at his genitals. He was also the one on the right in the pyramid picture. This indicates possible lying by the soldiers, as there does not appear to be any reason for him to be interrogated.

28. Hersh on D Rehm yesterday said ca 60% were just random pickups off the
streets.

He also said admin/Rumsfeld needed/wanted certain info last summer and fall.

He both said and implied 'permission' for info by any means came from the highest levels of admin.
