Bush's body language betrays his feelings of stress!
Edited on Tue May-04-04 05:48 PM by glarius
Bush is doing that shrug thing a lot lately....You know, where he shrugs his shoulders in a rather juvenile manner, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar?...And his bottom lip or chin seems to be trembling often. There's a new comedian who does a parody of Bush doing this shrugging thing as a major part of his act....Don't remember his name....Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I think Bush is showing signs of stress...He knows he is in trouble....Anyone else agree?

edit...I don't think this necessarily means he is drinking..I don't think he is...I just think he is starting to lose control.

1. Yes,
worst case scenario, he may face the music at the International Court, if he is found to have signed orders to the effect of torture.

If this happens, we will have to try him, or turn him over. I think he realizes this

7. stressing out
Of course he's stressing. Look how early he started campaigning against kerry, who is not yet even the nominee. He's not acting like an incumbent at all. Which is good news.
However, do you really believe that there is a piece of paper somewhere with his signature authorizing torture. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he ain't that stupid.
Turning a blind eye to it? Yes.
Authorizing it? Very very doubtful.

32. Welcome to DU zappaman...
However, Bush is stupid, but I'm sure the authorization came from one of his surrogates.

37. It is a stark example of a failure of leadership.
Just because Bush didn't "sign his name to it" doesn't mean that the country will not hold him and his Administration resposible for it.

The buck stops with him--he can like it or not.

Trying to wiggle out of this will appear weak and whiney to most Americans, imho.

23. He and his adminstration are responsible for the torture, for the simple
reason, if for no other, that they refuse to allow outside oversight by organizations like the Red Cross, or Amnesty International. This goes for Guantanamo, as well as Iraq and Afghanistan. This makes it look like they have something to hide. Now we know that they do. This is a good time too, for the treatment of these people, as far as being held indefinitely without charges, in Gitmo, Iraq and Afghanistan to be addressed, and the administration pressed on this. Apparently one of the naked abused Iraqis, was totally innocent, he was just thrown in the jail and forgotten until a fight broke out involving him, and this was his punishment. He was in a taxi which had been stolen, and was arrested with the driver. Give me a break. How do they deiscriminate between their policies and Saddam when they allow this shit to happen?

10. If he can't take the heat he should resign.
He's created every single issue that is causing him stress right now. We didn't have to invade Iraq - he decided to do it. If we had focused on Afghanistan we'd probably have OBL in custody.

I have no sympathy for him - none whatsoever. He's directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and the untold suffering of tens of thousands more. And that's just the war. He's also directly responsible for trashing the environment, trashing scientific research, trashing health care, trashing the U.S. economy.....do I need to go on?

If he can't take the heat for the damage he's caused, he should step down. And that goes for every other member of his evil team.

4. Maybe right about this one
but there's something else that bothered me today.

When he gave that piece of crap line about "the lonely will get...help he ended the line with "I need your help I heard the audio clip on Air America twice and the tone of voice in the "I need your help" line sent shivers down my spine.

Why?

My father was an alcoholic. Two of my best friends were alcoholics. (All three are now dead) and I remember every time either my father or my friends got into trouble because of their drinking, the conversation always ended with a sincere, "I need your help". Bush* was just as faux sincere as my father ever was. An just as adept at soliciting enablers as my father was.

This guy is campaigning for enablers and we call them VOTERS.

very good. I am just waiting for him to get drunk or high and screw up really good in public. I will laugh my butt off when it does happen. I even say a little prayer each day for this to happen. I want everyone to see this sorry piece of sh-t for what he is.

6. It could be
but personally, I am sick of these types of analyses

Bush is a jerk. He does and looks like a simian.

He is stupid. His body language means nothing to me at all any more, because I know how stupid and uninformed and how he longs to be a hero when all he has is NOTHING. NOTHING defines him and his frump.

HE is the worst president because, simply , he is the most stupid president we have ever had to suffer.

9. Is Bush really evil though?
I'm not fond of the guy. Pretty much everything he says bugs me. He seems clueless and in over his head. His advisors suck. The man really should not be president.

Despite all this, I don't necessarily think he is evil. Yes, I think he's a misguided fool, but I'm pretty sure he honestly thinks he's doing the right things for America and Iraq with the help of God. He just a useless puppet and I don't think he realizes it.

Another thing - He may look funny from time to time, but I've seen uglier and funnier looking politicians. I personally don't think he has evil intentions. I would never compare him to Hitler, however, I do admit that I think the combination of his power and his stupidity makes him a very dangerous man.

Am I one of the few people who mainly dislikes Bush the politician and president, but not Bush the person?

12. Are you aware of what "Bush the person" allowed to be said about McCain
and his wife in the 2000 election?...This "Christian" man ran ads calling McCain's wife a drug addict and insinuating that McCain had a black child out of wedlock....Hardly a nice man, I would say...He's a phony hypocrite.

While he may not have thought of those ads, ultimately he's responsible and has the final word.

Maybe I just naively think there's some good in all people.:)

22. And there's the interview he did where he mocked Karla Faye Tucker
who was executed in Texas when he was governor...He told an interviewer who asked him what she had said to him that she said "please, don't kill me" and he said it in a high pitched, whiny voice....That's a Christian?

... it made the Watergate break-in (and cover-ups) look like a sophomoric prank, and these neo-cons, former Nixonites, former Iran Contradistas do it all with impunity and sometimes with blasphemy in the name of the Almighty ... gives one a bad case of the red-ass ...

26. Not evil
Being evil implies knowledge of right or wrong and having a sense of morality. Bush is completely immoral - if something is not within his immediate sphere of interest it is irrevlant.

him and we have 4 voters in my family this year, and no one will be voting for him, but I am the only one who feels this strongly. This is why I turn to DU where others feel as strongly as I do. Did you see how ugly he looked laughing at Leno's jokes the other day? I can't stand to listen to him or watch him. I seriously could not take another 4 years. I think I would go into a depression, and need to get on medication!

This is a totally different country than what I grew up in. It's embarrassing to admit being an American since it's been taken over by these phony fundamentalist nazis.I hope you are right about this won't last forever. I saw the very ending of a program this evening with Greg Palast and what he was saying made me sick. I think we are in deep trouble here...I think the fix is in and bu$h will reign another 4 years or more. :scared: :scared: :scared:

27. Body language is almost always right!
I've been taught about body language signs in many management forums, and it's very difficult, if not impossible to hide completely. I always watch for signals from employees and politicians.

Bush is very telling when he does impromtu, off the cuff stuff. Think back to the so called press conference he had recently. He didn't do too bad until he started taking questions. Watch the switching from one foot to the other, turning from side to side, playing with a paper slip (of something) on the podium, all the ah, er, eh, hm hesitations. No confidence in what he's saying at all.

I wish I could remember if he did any of that when he was campaiging for the job. I didn't like him then and changed the chanel when he was on. Still do!
