Guys, thought you'd like to see this bit from the LARadio.com website today -
Savage Yanked. Michael Savage, his MSNBC tv show cancelled after anti-gay remarks, has had his Savage Nation syndicated radio show pulled from KRLA. Acting general manager Terry Fahy announced that KRLA had suspended broadcast of Savage’s program until Savage assures KRLA there will be no further outbursts like Saturday's incident on MSNBC.
Terry's on-air message: "The comments attributed to Michael Savage this past weekend on MSNBC, if accurate, are totally unacceptable to this station and its owner, Salem Communications Corporation. While the words receiving so much attention were not broadcast on KRLA, we have reviewed the transcript and have seen Mr. Savage's explanation of the circumstances which prompted the incident. Regardless of context, this sort of intemperate and pejorative outburst serves no constructive purpose and does not contribute to a meaningful public policy discussion and will not be tolerated on any Salem station. We have therefore suspended broadcast of the Savage Nation until we are satisfied that the inappropriate sentiments expressed by Mr. Savage do not reflect his views and will not be repeated. Until we receive these assurances, and know that our position is understood by Talk Radio Network and Mr. Savage, the program will not air. We continue to encourage a free and robust exchange of ideas. While we must guard against reaction that would chill this kind of exchange, we believe in this instance, Michael Savage has crossed the line. We all make mistakes and Mr. Savage has clearly made a serious one. We will only resume broadcast of his program, if we are assured that an outrage of this type will not occur again."
I've already asked for Terry Fahy's email address so I can write and say a huge THANK YOU!!!
