Laughter erupted in the Oval Office from time to time

Laughter erupted in the Oval Office from time to time, Thompson told the AP.

"There were no tense moments. I thought the president gave a five-star performance," said Thompson, the Republican former governor of Illinois.

Another commissioner, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the panel learned new details about events leading up to Sept. 11, and discussed possible recommendations for changes in areas such as intelligence.

Between the guffaws, was there a slip? Oh, let it be.

3. my favorite part
"If we had something to hide, we wouldn't have met with them in the first place," Bush said. "We answered all their questions."
Bush said it was important for he and Cheney to appear together so that commission members could "see our body language... how we work together."

7. Oh PLEASE, George! I don't WANT to see your 'body language'!!
God, the only thing more disgusting than George W. Bush in a room is George W. Bush in a room doing a 'body language' duet with Dick Cheney.

Shudder,

37. After all, this IS the Commission to Investigate Body Language.
What is happening here? How could anybody who heard that "body language" comment not know that this administration is insane?

It's surreal.

the former governor rushed home to put the tooth he recently lost under his pillow.

"I'm hoping for a quarter", Thompson said.

Is the 9-11 commission a freakin slap in the face to millions of American citizens who KNOW what bush knew?

Makes me want to campaign harder for Kerry & a Dem senate & house.

Justice under george & dick has become a joke amoungst the conglomerates running our America.

What is with this guy? Is he a mime? Does he want to be remembered as "the Interpretive Dance President"?

Body language...I want to see his body language when the door hits him in the ass on the way out next January (or earlier).

22. Besides...
Wouldn't he have body language if he went to the commission instead of sitting in the Oval Office.

Randi said you could confuse him for four days by telling to go sit in the corner in the Oval Office.

14. Performance?
It's so comforting to hear that "big" Jim Thompson was entertained.

It's sickening that some in our government takes all of this so lightly. I wonder if the 9-11 families would have found any of the chimp's remarks funny.

The information will eventually leak out...but imagine if they had footage of George yukking it up as he discusses the intelligence failures that led to 9/11.

17. We're in charge and you're not
They were probably laughing at the commissioners telling them that they could release anything they wanted to since it will be redacted anyway. (Remember, the White House gets to delete anything from the commission's report they don't like.)

They also were probably laughing about how they were going to once again steal the election and then do anything they wanted to, including sending undesireable commissioners to Guantanamo.

Not LOL. If these people get the White House again, it's likely the end of democracy in those country (and maybe a new dark ages). Get serious, people. We've can't let them win.

19. The evening of Sept 11: "We got a laugh out of it!"
Remember this? And remember how long it was before you could laugh again?

George W. Bush: And this guy's out of breath, and we're heading straight down to the basement because there's an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it's a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back up stairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Peggy Noonan (interviewer): So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

George W. Bush: THAT'S RIGHT-- WE GOT A LAUGH OUT OF IT!

24. WTF?
"There were no tense moments. I thought the president gave a five-star performance," said Thompson, the Republican former governor of Illinois.

Excuse me, Governor, but why are you rating a witnesses' performance before your commission? You're supposed to find out the truth, not play Siskel and Ebert.

Show some fucking decorum, and at least PRETEND not to take sides, please.

... I can't believe I actually used to like him as my Governor.
