A good friend of mine became a US citizen on Tuesday....

He told me that after the swearing in ceremony Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" played, while a video played showing American landmarks and soldiers. Followed by a very special message from the pResident.

He said he nearly changed his mind :(

A friend attended the swearing in with him, and as he entered the Federal Building he was asked to present ID. He showed his fake green card. No questions asked.

How much safer are we after 9-11 if Immigration officials can't even spot a fake green card.

2. That's funny! Not just USA though.

I'm a naturalized Canadian citizen (18 years ago), but had doubts because I had to swear allegiance to the queen of England. It almost made me sick, but I figured, what the hell, I'm only a minor.

This is my first post on this forum. I find it pretty interesting, but a little extreme at times. Don't you think some of the extremism on this forum might turn off the average American? I would love to see GWB ousted, some of the extreme elements actually hurt this cause.

Extremism on both the left and the right disgusts me.

I think you'll find the members of DU are less concerned about how our views appear to the supposed average American than we are having a place to vent views that the powered elite and their sponsoring media finds unacceptable.
