President Bush Announces Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended
http://www.usiraqprocon.org/pop/BushEnd.htm

The text below is taken from a press release issued by the White House Office of the Press Secretary,
of the remarks made by President Bush from the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003.

President Bush Announces Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended

Remarks by the President from the USS Abraham Lincoln
At Sea Off the Coast of San Diego, California

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all very much. Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans: Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. (Applause.) And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country.

In this battle, we have fought for the cause of liberty, and for the peace of the world. Our nation and our coalition are proud of this accomplishment -- yet, it is you, the members of the United States military, who achieved it. Your courage, your willingness to face danger for your country and for each other, made this day possible. Because of you, our nation is more secure. Because of you, the tyrant has fallen, and Iraq is free. (Applause.)

Operation Iraqi Freedom was carried out with a combination of precision and speed and boldness the enemy did not expect, and the world had not seen before. From distant bases or ships at sea, we sent planes and missiles that could destroy an enemy division, or strike a single bunker. Marines and soldiers charged to Baghdad across 350 miles of hostile ground, in one of the swiftest advances of heavy arms in history. You have shown the world the skill and the might of the American Armed Forces.

This nation thanks all the members of our coalition who joined in a noble cause. We thank the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland, who shared in the hardships of war. We thank all the citizens of Iraq who welcomed our troops and joined in the liberation of their own country. And tonight, I have a special word for Secretary Rumsfeld, for General Franks, and for all the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States: America is grateful for a job well done. (Applause.)

2. I remember when they changed the heading in the White House
home page so that it would match the text ("major" was added to the heading). The "1984" aspects of this war have been apparent from the beginning.

It will be a case of leave or lose in November. That is all he and his minions are worried about right now.

14. And the US public , by and large, just doesn't care.
They just sit on their ample asses and listen to this kind of shit spewing from Der Fuhrer and don't express outrage: its the same old sports talk, or home improvement--gardening--erectile dysfunction--Yoplait fat ass treatment--survivor for simpletons barf. They really don't give a shit!

I can't help it. American deserves what it is getting and if the Mideast explodes and the US military is destroyed by an enraged Arab world then I just cannot get worked up over it. We tried to tell the damn fools and they will not listen.

I think something disastrous is going to happen to the US military in Iraq soon.

I would leave this country and seek asylum somewhere if I had the means.

15. The Simple folk will soon get mad as they find out they got "taken to
the cleaners" by a bunch of Con Artists posing as people who care about America. The evidence points towards them being the crooks they are, evil ones.

16. maybe. sometimes i think the obese sheeple actually
appreciate being lied to. they stay glued
to unreal reality tv that is obviously something
fake being passed off as real. like staged wrestling,
they can't seem to get enough of it. to a
degree, the real world has taken on some of these
unreal reality qualities.

20. One thing I notice:
Books are taking the place of the news media in providing information to the masses.

This might be good for people who read, but how many people are as well-informed as us?

Most people still think Saddam and Al Qaeda are linked thanks to Faux News.
