1. They would need to do some re-defining...
I personally don't consider it a press conference when someone simply stands behind the mic and spits crap all over it, with a large number of uhhhh, ummmm, unhhhhh, and other garbage mixed into the verbal salad. I do consider it a press conference when the questions are not scripted, the person delivering the responses is articulate and can think on his/her feet. The rules for * have never been the same as they have been for anyone else, f*cking boorish POS.

11. I know, and that's what especially pisses
me off, the totally free pass the media gives Shrub. Gore can't catch a break no matter WHAT he does, and Shrub can be as stupid and idiotic as possible and they still fall all over him.

3. Novakula made this nasty comment about Clinton not answering questions
Edited on Sat Apr-17-04 07:02 PM by CatWoman
and not being forthcoming.

Shields spanked his ass!!!!

Talk about a kettle calling a pot black.

Shields said the first thing he would ask Chimpy during a press conference is to name all of these so-called "coalition members" who are helping us out in Iraq.

:hi:

5. When does Capitol Gang repeat? I missed most of it.
Shields also said at the end that he'd like to ask Bush if he could name any members of NATO. That was a great little dig.
Shields really rocks.

9. Shields is on this show?
I really like him on Friday night with Brooks on the Newshour.

Hes patient and civil w. Brooks (who, truth be told, is one of the better conservo commentators).

Sounds like he has no mercy for guys like Novak. And less than zero for Bush.

7. someone should compare Shrub with Reagan
Whenever Reagan didn't have a script, he was a stammering idiot. Kind of like Shrub. Anybody remember that?

It was embarrassing.

Faking it was his job.

He deserved an Oscar. The crowing preformance of his career. Death Valley Days..move over...

12. LOL!
That's for sure! Or, as a local letter writer said in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, he was "a bad actor and an even worse president, and I'm sick to death of hearing about how wonderful he was!"

13. not in press conferences. He was dreadful
that's why he had almost none of them.

I wish somebody would dig up one of those tapes.

Might poke a few holes in the Reagan "myth".

14. They Should do This Comparison !

They should compare the Clinton PDB's to the Bush PDB's.

Quote from a Sidney Blumenthal article:

Bush's press conference was the culmination of his recent
efforts to staunch the political wounds of his bleeding polls
since the 9/11 commission began public hearings and
violence spiralled in Iraq. Bush had tried to divert blame by
declaring that the August 6 memo he was forced to
declassify at the commission's insistence contained no
"actionable intelligence", even though it specifically
mentioned the World Trade Centre and Washington as
targets.

Bush, in fact, does not read his President's Daily Briefs,
but has them orally summarised every morning by the CIA
director, George Tenet. President Clinton, by contrast,
read them closely and alone, preventing any aides from
interpreting what he wanted to know first-hand. He
extensively marked up his PDBs, demanding action on this
or that, which is almost certainly the likely reason the Bush
administration withheld his memoranda from the 9/11
commission.

"I know he doesn't read," one former Bush national security
council staffer told me. Several other former NSC staffers
corroborated this. It seems highly unlikely that he read the
national intelligence estimate on WMD before the Iraq war
that consigned contrary evidence and caveats that
undermined the case to footnotes and fine print. Nor is
there any evidence that he read the state department's
17-volume report, The Future of Iraq, warning of nearly all
the postwar pitfalls, that was shelved by the neocons in the
Pentagon and Vice-President Cheney's office.
