Anybody watching Charlie Rose?
Ben-Vinista is on by himself. I find it strange that he still claims that Tenet didn't visit Bush in Crawford, when it has been established that he was there (at least) on the 17th, 24th, and 31st.

Anybody else see a problem with that? Why would he act stupid when he knows better?

1. On OFranken factor, he was just as 'gop'ish' as ever.....
he was talking about the likely conclusion that 9/11 happened because a failure in intelligence sharing... saying the system was 'stovepiped'. I think that is the exact term Tenet used yesterday.

We need to realize that there are two parties in this country: the represented WEALTHY class, and the unrepresented common man. And when push comes to shove, we see who gets the shove....

Does anyone find it somewhat outrageous that an independent commission member even speaks about ANYTHING having to do with this? It's like having a judge comment to the press on his opinions in the middle of a trial. Wholly inappropriate....

2. It's because Bush* didn't want this committee, so, when giving in, he
made it as whimpy and weak as possible. It has no authority whatsoever and, thereby, no accountability either. No accountability means that commission members can go on TV and say whatever they want to say, it doesn't matter.

3. I know
Even the WH says so:

" The CIA briefings, I have on our porch, the end of our porch looking out over the lake. When Tenet came up, that's where we visited, out there.

You know, everybody wants to see the ranch, which I'm proud to show it off. So George Tenet and I -- yesterday, we piled in the new nominees for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the Vice Chairman and their wives and went right up the canyon. "

From an official WH press release, dated Aug. 25, 2001.

5. BV did say something that interested me.
(Thanks for the cue, SimpleMan.)

I only caught the end, but I liked the way he put the case of the Big Dog's hit on UBL.

It overtured Shrub's post-911, tin-horn 'Dead or Alive' horse-shit, but was pre-911 and sounds cooler, less New Haven. I believe he said that the Clinton archive papers (late 90's?) they obtained showed that part of the capture v. kill deal made with third parties was: "You get paid either way."

6. Doesn't that put BenVeniste at odds with the official correction...
made by the CIA, just after Tenet's testimony, that Tenet had "misspoken" when he said he did not speak with Bush in August? If that's what BenVeniste said, maybe he's not buying the correction, and maintaining that Tenet was telling the truth when he said he did not speak to Bush during August, 2001? The WH wants Bush to appear to have been "engaged"; they probably don't want it known, if true, that Bush neither spoke nor met with the head of the CIA during the month before the 9/11 attacks.
