The High Jacked System of American Politics. For the want of a Smart Vote.
...... The Nation was Lost.

Opihi Rant of the Month. :bounce:

For better and for worse, our Political System was working rather well....until just a few years ago.

As in other free Nations, we use the spoils system allowing election winners to appoint various posts, some very important and others more mundane.

Essentially, we have a two party system, Republican and Democratic. Of the two, it was the Republican Party which endured a paradigm shift.

Big Business, the Military Ind Complx, Fundamentalist Christians, etc joined forces making the Republican Party what it is today.

Now that we have become a World Power these political appointments take on a more serious meaning. In view of recent events it comes to light many of the appointments made end up with tragic results.

People are appointed not so much for their skills but for their affiliation and loyalty. Good enough for the days of old, not so today.

Bushes appointments, those by his father, and Reagan too, add up to the mess on our Nations hands today. Don't get me wrong, Dems had their share too, but the consequences were not nearly as corrosive/disastrous as the above mentioned Pub appointments. Many were/are good but the bad ones sure made up for whatever gains made.

Take Ms Rice, she will not be a part of the team if Bush wins this Nov. Now I suspect why. Its Guilt. She knows she blew it. And Colin, he too will bow out, used and abused. Rummy? He was a bad choice, speaks in tongues like Bush does. etc etc.

And now we see Bush, badly wanting a second term. Does he deserve it?
In my book, Hell no. How can we trust him to pick a winning team. Super Bowl? Not with him as Coach.
