John Kerry, and the Caymans...
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 09:38 PM by imax2268
so check this out...some repugs are posting this at another site...we were talking about Kerry and Heinz and they throw this into it...and I can't find anything on it except for the link they posted...The Boston Globe fishwrap...

Check out the documents

(snip)
Documents obtained by the Globe detail John Kerry's 1983 investment of between $25,000 and $30,000 in offshore companies registered in the Cayman Islands. The document below, signed by Kerry, shows his pledge to purchase 2,470 shares of Peabody Commodities Trading Corp. through Sytel Traders, registered in the Caymans.
(snip)
---------------------------------------------------
Now I know this is the Boston Globe and it's a right-wing piece of toilet paper...but I can't find a thing on this except that site...which tells me that it's probably a hoax or they are really special people to come accross this...any thoughts...?

Has anyone ever seen this...?

Any links...?

1. $25-30K?
That may seem like alot to you and I, imax, but if that is the best the freepers can do, JK has nothing to worry about. I suspect that in his and Theresa's portfolio, they are charged that much in fees alone.

2. Kerry on pre-911 terror warning
I'm more worried about this link. I tried getting info on Kerry site, but my post was removed.

Was just trying to get info. THe fact they removed it worries me a bit. What do the rest of you know about this?

How noble of you to make that sacrifice

12. Understanding the enemy is the best way to defeat him
Being prepared and getting the truth from DEM's is better than being hit unexpectedly by a bunch of Rush's diatribe stuff where you're not a 100% sure of the source.

17. Why can't I get a response on this though?
Thanks. I asked the Kerry board about it, and got my post booted. Now I'm voting for Kerry, but there are people who are on the fence that hit me with this stuff.

I live in PA and its gonna be a swing state. I can say it's just right wing garbage, but when someone one the fence says prove it, I really don't have the answers to it yet.

Hopefully some one here can refute it and fill me in.

20. What I know about this is that you haven't put much effort into this
I went to Altavista and searched for "Kerry" and "Cayman" and an article from the paper imax linked to had an article that explained everything.

Maybe you should spend more time reading real news.

15. Someone informed him of security holes, so he told the DOT.
Doesn't seem too damaging to me. Now, if he was the National Security Advisor, the writer might have a point, but he's a senator. Passing the info on to someone who's in charge of airports would be the thing to do in his position.

The writer (and perhaps you as well, EndElectoral) may want to review the definition of the word "Ignore".

I went to altavista and searched for "Kerry" and "Cayman" (I know, a stroke of inspiration) and the article you cited was the third on the list.

He put more time into starting three threads on DU

18. And RUMMY has posted proof that Kerry didn't make a penny
In fact, he lost money. It's another Whitewater

Also, imax claims "...and I can't find anything on it except for the link they posted"

I searched for "Kerry" and "Cayman" on Altavista and it was the third item on the list.

I wonder why the righties are making such a bid deal out of it...

Check this out...the two posts towards the bottom before mine...

AZFamily.com

So maybe that's why it's not such a big news item because he really didn't profit from it...he actually lost money...

I just don't get these right-wingers...

So from what I gather about it...is that he was convinced by his accountant that it wasn't a good idea so he backed out and took a loss...unethical...

with the deal and pulled out of it.

Seems you misunderstood the story.

"It wasn't legit," said Kerry. "And thank God my accountant looked at me and said, `Don't do this,' and thank God, I think, that I had the good judgment to listen to him and not want to create something that I would pay the price for down the road."
(snip)

so basically...as usual...the righties have nothing on this...correct...?

38. The rightwing has nothing.
Kerry made the right ethical decision.

The righties should note that Reagan-Bush's secretary of the Treasury at the time JAMES BAKER had pushed through deregulation of the S&L's and many a scam was pushed through with little policing. Alot of the crap that went down was unethical and thanks to Reagan-Bush NOT wholly illegal.

The ethical guys like Kerry were few and far between.
