The Funeral March on Washington Protest Idea
In this thread, Tahiti Nut had a great idea for a protest.

A march of pallbearers, carrying a flag-draped coffin for each of those who have died in Iraq and dropping them (figuratively) on Bush's doorstep.

What are the odds that someone could organize something like this?

3. That's a beautiful idea
It would have to be done very reverently. I worry about the suffering of the families who have lost someone the most.

4. It depends.
Finding a sympathetic funeral director would be the key. Most funeral directors right now are probably rolling in dough from the families of those that are dying over there.

Unless we could find a buttload of carpenters to just make simple wood coffins. So let's find some sympathetic carpenters who would volunteer to help. How many dead are we up to as of now?

How about lumber for these simple coffins. Anyone own a lumberyard or know someone who does? Let's start thinking specifics.

Black cloth? Anyone own a fabric store who might be able to get black fabric at a heavy discount?

I think this is a fantastic idea.

6. Reverence is good.
I think most of the families would know what was trying to be accomplished. At least I hope they would.

I found a good site for coffin stuff last night while searching for doo-dads for our Halloween party (yes, I'm planning 6 months in advance, so sue me...):
