1. I have never seen him as such. Every time I see a McCain for VP thread I
zap it from my DU.

3. Given his hawkish position on the war, I think he was the last hope
of the neocons to stack both parties, though I am not sure Kerry won't dissappoint antiwar democrats like Will Pitt anyway.

4. Those McCain for VP threads are all started by
Tweety. It is my hypothesis that he lurks here and sometimes tries to make news. He's really vested in trying to push McCain as running mate for Kerry.

7. I wonder why?
The "generational commitment" talk McCain has been doing lately really indicates a "Clash of Civilizations" mentality. Tweety claims to be against the war.

5. Liberals today hope
for a return to rational discourse. I think I and a lot of others project on McCain and other conservatives who haven't completely gone round the bend certain hopes. These hopes are specifically that the system be cleansed of the radical right, their methods of propaganda and character assassination be rejected, and that the country's governance be returned to a rational process based on fundamental American principles.

Well, that's projecting a lot of hope on the more reasonable conservatives and we should probably just get over it. They will not (as I hoped) join us in this until we liberals have accomplished it.
