1. I'm getting to like his voice.
JFK had it. Clinton certainly had it. Reagan could fake it. It's a voice that instills confidence. And the more you hear it, the more convinced you get that things are moving in the right direction.

2. It seems he's toned down
the New England accent. And when he not speechifying and just talking, he sounds so much better.

3. Interesting.
I think you may be right on that point. I hadn't listened to his speeches in the past so I hadn't connected the accent. But this morning on Imus, he certainly did come across well. Matter of fact, no nonsense. Clinton also has this ability. A conversational style that cuts to the chase.

5. The Imus crowd would have been fine with his performance.
Imus kidded Kerry about his shoulder injury and asked how it happened. Kerry explained he had wrenched it but it was fine now. Imus asked him if he was given pain medication. Kerry played along and his voice was light and said yes, the pain medication was great. I'm not sure the senior crowd would have like his comments, but the Imus crowd would have related to it.

Then Imus asked about the war vote and Kerry explained that the Bush Administration presented the plan for war in a certain way and that there were expectations that Bush would follow a certain process, which included at least the attempt to get world support, but that the Bush Administration just proceeded on its own path and didn't keep promises.

His communication skills must be improving. Last week, someone I talked to who had listened to Kerry for the first time said that Kerry had tried to explain a question regarding his war record and took a tremendous amount of time to explain it. Then Clinton got up and explained it in 10 minutes. Kerry can learn from Clinton.

6. thanks for the synopsis
one thing the whores will have to do to help Bush is to try to keep people from seeing and hearing Kerry for themselves. I think he comes off very well, despite what the media says about him being aloof or whatever.

7. Bad idea, IMO
he should joke the other way - "Now, Don, you know I don't touch anything stronger than Miller Lite".

Course, if Rove wants to compare the candidates' drug histories, that could be fun. But I expcet this quote to show up a=on Smirk's ads.

8. He's said the same thing forever
That really isn't any different than what he's been saying for a year now. But first Howard and the far left distorted it, then the Bushie's distorted it. Now that he's the Democratic nominee, there's less people distorting it so people are actually listening to what he says. He supported doing something about Iraq and expected Bush to do it correctly because we've always worked in a bipartisan fashion when it comes to national defense. Bush didn't. It's really that simple.
