"Tired of swatting flies"...why didn't one of the commish pounce
We have a LOT of flies around here this time of year, and we swat many, we don't light sticks of dynamite to get rid of them...that would probably break stuff we'd rather keep around and wouldn't kill many
moscas. :eyes:

1. This has been puzzling me...
What did Bush mean, that he was "tired of swatting flies"? Was he saying that we needed to use more firepower on bin Laden and that we were just using a fly swatter on him? And htat he had plans to change that? Or was he saying that Clinton was a wimp with a fly swatter and he was going to bring out the big guns on these little buzzing pests? Just what did he mean by "tired of swatting flies"?

6. It's a code word
His Chimperial Highness speaks in code. It means one things to his followers (i.e. "wackos" or flying monkeys) and those who oppose him (i.e. "the sane").

"Tired of swatting flies" means -- "Find me a way to start a long term regional war in the Middle East."

I hope you will have a look at the thread in which I discuss this in detail, and do hope you will weigh in with your assessment.

The reality is probably that Bush considered Bin Laden one of the flies (not a big threat) and just wanted to go after Saddam. (Is that a baby carrot in your pants, Georgie, or are you just thinking of Saddam?)

4. I have re-thought my interpretation of this phrase
Earlier today I posted that I believed the phrase "tired of swatting flies" was a code word for "Find a way to start a long-term regional war in the Middle East for me."

My blunder. I had assumed that he had spoken this in the Oval Office, but it seems he said it to Condi while he was in vacation in Crawford in August 2001. He was actually tired out from literally swatting the numerous flies on his play ranch, and actually was orderig her to get Khashoggi on the phone and find out if he could get his hands on some of that good old Flit stuff like his Mom used to use summers in Kennebunkport.

ha ha
