Are you guys aware that Bill Clinton testified for four hours
this afternoon?

One of the commissioners was talking about it earlier.

Said Clinton did a bang up job.

I'm surprised there are no threads here about it.

5. Only that they felt he was extremely forthcoming and candid
and gave them all the time they needed.

10. Like a real president does.
Bush is so busy cutting brush on his "ranch" that he has to have strictures placed on the meeting, and needs Cheney there to hold his hand through the whole "interview."

19. could you even IMAGINE if Clinton and Bu$h testified
before the commission, under oath, on the same day?? (with no puppetmaster Cheney to hold the BoyKing's hand?)

Now THAT would be a comparison. <understatement>

for the Big Dawg. Said he was very helpful and couldn't have been more cooperative. :D

But yeah, it was a closed session so we don't know what they discussed. It would have been nice to see him testify.

17. Big Dawg - it's from a Southernism
"If you can't run with the big dogs; stay on the porch."

It's an affectionate way to acknowledge Bill is a Big Dog, alpha male, who out debates, outwits, and just plain outclasses everybody.

Lots of those pesky, tiny-minded GOPers are better off staying on the porch rather than hurting themselves trying to keep up with him.

14. Closed session
is what he had. Same as what * and *'s keeper will get.

So there is no public transcript.

22. Only if * is willing to release Clinton's 9000 docs
including, I guess his PDBs. I think Clinton wants them released. But * is really stuck, quite unrealistically IMO, on this whole notion of "executive privilege".

Welcome to DU, ExWife. :toast: :hi:

13. Maybe if he testified publicly,
it might help to offset all this "Bush did all he could, but Clinton didn't do enough" talk.

Clarke has gone so far as to say that Clinton was responsible for getting the national security team to focus on Al Queda. Clinton's nothing if not persuasive - perhaps his public testimony would change some minds.

15. Why the secrecy? Very unfair to Clinton
Blame him in the public testamony and prevent him from rebutting in public. I expect to start hearing some truth around here. As long as they hide behind closed doors, I will never accept their conclusions.

Let the American people decide the truth for themselves!

21. Yes, Jaime Gorelick
said Clinton did a bang up job while talking to Chris Matthews on Hardball. She refused to discuss specifics, and I can only hope (yes naively and with stars in my eyes as always) that it's because it's going to come out in the final report and nail W's ass to the wall.
