Joe Lieberman. Because we will have destroyed all the rest of them. Think ahead just a little bit people. There is no one in the world that cannot be destroyed - if the desire is so there.

2. I think we will be ok
I know the race has had some food fight moments, and the game is going to get nasty before we finally pick The One and unite behind him/her.

I think it is better to battle test all of them now and see how they can handle it. You can bet your last dollar that Rove won't hold anything back to keep the junta in power.

3. So you are saying
That the nastiest, most right wing, wanna be theocrat, bush sucking, DINO should get our support just so we can say a Dem is pres? Sorry, Az don't play that. If thats the case lets axe his carrear now. Joe will be the death of the party. The entire left wing will hemorage. There will be an exodus to the greens faster than you can say Holy Joe.

4. Liberman will drop like a rock (and is!)
Liberman won't win any primary.
He is getting more and more right wing as the campaign moves on. Soon his popularity, or name recognition, will far be out shadowed by his republican love sonets and negative campaigning...

9. 15%
Less than 15% of America conciders themselves liberal. Most Democrats claim to be moderate or even conservative. That is why Liberman will win the primary.

13. People often refuse labeling,
they would rather concider themselves "independant" or "average" when it comes to choosing sides, politically. But when they vote, they really do consider mundane things like, "What's best for me?" and, "Who do I trust?" Just because someone identifies him/herself as 'Liberal" or "Conservative" or "Moderate" doesn't resonate as much as honesty, trust, and ideas - just my HO.

16. And the other 85% don't know what a liberal is.....
The propaganda labels are useless. People have been brainwashed to think "liberals" are bad...conservatives are good. The television is a weapon of mass distraction...kill it!

21. History
back it up with a link? I'll back it up with history. Just look at how well liberal canidates hav done in National Elections..McGovern..Mondale if you ad it up theose two won 2 states in two elections and lost 96 states during those two elections. The liberal wing of our Democratic party is our problem. The far left is bringing us down. If Dean wins then Bush will have a landslide victory. History is the proof

25. The correct interpretation of history might be different, I suspect...
Who did McGovern lose to? Nixon, the lying crook. How does that prove that McGovern and the left were wrong? A correct interpretation of history would show that McGovern was right and Nixon was a crook...and those that voted for Nixon and choose to take some historical lesson from that election must feel betrayed by history.

26. Doubt 15% of nomination voters are the only ones turned off
The party is mostly mad at Bush (contrary to media belief) and Liberman is doing little at distinguishing with a "new" ideas and direction.

I'm sure people are scared by the word "liberal" thanks to people like Liberman vilianizing it and the media mocking it. So I'll say, Liberman is alienating "progressives" from supporting him.

6. Let me put it this way
All my Dem friends are left wing Dems (some are ready to bolt to the greens as it is). If Joe gets the nomination everyone of them will write in Nader if they have to. Joe is cancer. You can play the "we gotta get the center" all you want. But if you don't bring the left along the center is not going to save the day. The left will not play along just for bragging rights of having a dem in office if its a freaking DINO. The left are driven by their ideals. The center is driven by whoever can present their argument better. Are you telling me we cannot out argue Shrubco? Good grief.

7. I don't really get this
vehement attacking of Democratic contenders that are simply disagreed with on policy or job performance. If you perfer a particular candidate, why is it necessary to hack to pieces another candidate. This is Republican methodology. Now I am all for using these tactics against the Republicans in any election, but why are we doing this to "our own"?

I strongly disagree with almost every statement, position and utterance of Joe Lieberman over the past couple of years, and he would be the very last Democrat that I would vote for (as a matter of fact, if Joe gets the nomination, 2004 may be the last time I ever vote Democratic - after 30-odd years of solid DEm. voting), but we don't have to "go Republican" on each other.

I see this election cycle as being the one that decides the fate of the Democratic Party and the Party may be in its death-throes, but let's have some dignity and some civility - at least amongst oueselves.

Sorry, sermon over.

8. Fate of the democratic party
If Joe gets the nomination that is my signal that the party is dead already. I can't say it more plainly. Joe gets nominated the party dies.

I mean what the heck is the party anyway. A name or an ideal? Joe is name only.

10. I agree with you.
If Joe gets the nomination, my Democrat days are over. I really see this election as being what the Party is and what it is about. If it goes Lieberman, I'm out. (And I'm sure there are plenty of "good" Democrats that would say, "Good riddence!" They actually have said that.)

But if the majority of "Democrats" want Joe, they can have him, and welcome to him!

12. Hijack
I've been playing with this thought for a couple of days now and I think this is a good place to float it.

Lieberman has been bothering me for a couple of weeks now because he is saying and doing things that, on the surface, seem self-destructive and utterly foolih. We all know that Joe isn't stupid. He's actually very bright. So my skeptical nature kicks in and tells me that Joe knows something I don't. Like he will ultimately win the nomination because the party base won't count in the ultimate decision. That he will have all the money he needs to wait out Dean and Kerry while the media feeding frenzy over the front runners destroys them both. He may be, as so aptly noted above, the last democrat standing.

So what are our options?

In the interest of getting * out of the WH, it is suggested that we hold our nose and vote for Joe......or.....there is another way.

In terms of shear numbers, the democratic wing of the democratic party outweighs the Greens. Maybe we should hijack the Green party and put our own candidate up. (I know that means we concede the WH to dubya again, but if Joe is the last man standing, that will happen anyway.) Eventually, in four years, we could own the Green party and bury the OLD Democratic party.

We have a lot in common with the greens. An alliance is not out of the question.

Face it. If our values are being hijacked by elites who pretend to be out leaders, then we really don't have a home. Maybe its time we made one for ourselves.

Let the flaming begin..............

18. No flames, here!
I think you have a good idea. I'm not even opposed to voting for Joe against Bush, just in '04 (Bush will win, anyway, if Joe is his opponent) and that would shut up the inevitable chorus of "you lost us the WH!" from you-know-who). But, if Lieberman wins the nomination, then I'm ready to bolt. If a merger with the Greens is doable, then home-sweet-home; if not then a new progressive party may be just what we need!

22. You know,
there are numerous groups of people who believe that the two major parties are not addressing their needs, their hopes, their aspirations. They feel voiceless, because their "representatives" don't, actually. African Americans, women, Hispanics, the poor, veterans, the working class, farmers, educators, homosexuals, atheists, liberals, progressives, the elderly, and we could go on and on with this list.

All of these groups conprise individuals who have been marginalized or taken for granted by the two major parties. When you begin putting these folks together the numbers soar. Maybe it's time to redefine our definitions. Maybe it's time to to show people (voters) that it isn't crazy or undoable to follow the Constitution, to practice our freedoms, to take responsibility, and to take the reins.

Sorry, it's getting late and I'm waxing romantic.

24. Roots
The democratic party needs to return to its roots. Today the party is fractioned into several special interest groups. The party use to be concerned about what mattered to people. Education, fair wages, safety on the job...now the party leaders seem more concerned with making sure France and Germany like us or if someone should drive an SUV. Most democrats don't care about that stuff...we want a better life. I could care less if someone drives an SUV or if France thinks Saddam is not a threat to US security. The Moderate Democrats like Joe Liberman,Zeal Miller, Stenholm, and the 80's Gore need to take the party back from the far left. So we can win some friggin elections.

28. Don't see it that way
I'm happy to see Democratics fighting for their beliefs instead of the "can't we all get along" bullshit. I tended to agree with you a few months ago when I thought that DU should basically disallow negatives thrown at any of our candidates...but what would that get us? An unelectable Bush-lite establishment candidate, probably Joe Lieberman.

I now see these internal squabbles that we're having as healthy. And as far as the argument that we're destroying our candidates, I see it more as they are being battle tested. Do you really believe that any of us can or would throw as much mud as the GOP will in the general? Our candidate MUST be ready for the nastiest fight that this country has ever seen.

Fight On!!! That goes for each of the candidates and their supporters, we've been a much too agreeable bunch for at least a generation.

29. Joe will survive because he's satan
If he does win the nomination that would just confirm my speculation, Joe Lieberman is Satan. He would have used his dark occult contacts to wipe out the other candidates and gain nomination.

If Joe wins...I think it is our duty to take the dude out. Gather your holy water and your squirt guns for the apocalyspe has risen with a Lieberman nomination.
