Bush's Job training grant proposal--is it a joke or what?
Does anyone else here think that the amount of money Bush proposes for his job training grant proposal is a joke, given the huge number of community colleges there are? When community colleges' tuition are going up because of Republicans' tax cut actions, how many are shut out anyhow? Finally, and maybe most importantly, does anyone know if this grant money just offers money for training already skilled workers, or is there any money for training the unskilled?

1. job training...

sure be nice if JUST ONE of those "free market, oursourcing is good,
all we need is to retrain" folks would tell us, with a straight face,
just what the hell jobs we should all be retrained for? Clerking
at the local WallMart? flipping burgers?

Oh, and I'd like to have a job that pays $65,000 / year (cost of
being middle class in Northern California... actually, unless your
a DINK, it's the cost of being lower middle class).

6. Train for "property management"
that's a euphemism for "renting storage lockers/garages." $8 per hour keeps enlarging your SS pot! (ha, ha)

2. I think it'll be valuable...
Shrub can use it to flip burgers when he gets his sorry ass kicked out of office in November.

3. it's a sick joke
the amount he proposed for retraining is about what one or two high-end modern bombers cost.

trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the rich, and peanuts for retraining out-of-work Americans.
