Ex-aide to prosecutor arrested at nightclub [Indianapolis]

Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi will seek a special prosecutor to determine whether formal charges should be filed against a former campaign aide who repeatedly invoked Brizzi's name before and during his arrest, a spokesman for the prosecutor said Saturday.

Matthew S. Trefethen, 24, deputy director of voter information for the state Republican Party, was arrested about 11:10 p.m. Friday after being escorted out of The Ugly Monkey nightclub, 302 S. Meridian St.

Police arrested him on preliminary charges of battery, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
