Excited that I made my first campaign contribution
Damn, that feels good...here I am, almost to the top of the hill, and making my first political campaign contribution. B-)

I just donated to the Dean campaign and Christ, I feel like a kid that just drew his first paycheck! If you believe in one of our candidates, then do YOURSELF a favor and make a donation, you won't believe how Democratic and patriotic that it makes you feel!

1. How did I know it was going to be Dean when I read the headline?
Must just be the amount of excitement and enthusiasm the good doctor is creating all over America. I'm loving it.

2. YES!!
I'd never given money to a candidate before either, but Dean now has $50 from me, and more will be on the way (even though I lost my job last night). I'll be proud to send him a portion of my unemployment check every month.

6. Wow tedoll, simply wow.
It's a wonderful thing to contribute to reclaiming our country, but not at the expense of you and your families needs. Please take care, and do what you can afford to do, and no more. Good thoughts your way and fingers crossed that you'll find work soon. Bush has to go - WE can't afford him!!

Thanks for all you do, tedoll. :toast:

8. Oh - no worries here!
I work for the IRS as a seasonal data transcriber. We ran-out of 1040's this week, so they've furloughed us. Me, and about 100 other people, will now sit around from here until February, collecting unemployment. (It's kinda like summer for teachers, except we get a much longer 'vacation.')

The center here in Austin is going to close in a few years because of electronic filing, so I'm going back to school on the 25th to be a Radiologic Technoligist (the fancy name for X-ray tech). I've been planning all year for this furlough, so Dean can depend on my check, lol!

5. I gave to Al Sharpton
He said the "I" word and I said oh hell yeah, and gave some money. I'll probably give another bit to him and then get on with my candidates of choice next month.

I also joined a local environmental group and yeah, it is something that just makes you feel all young and idealistic again.

9. In a perfect world
Sharpton would elected President. He is the only that is making common sense. I love Sharpton. His idea of a constitutional amendment for the right to health care is a perfect idea for this country!

12. And even if you can't donate money
You can donate a little time to the candidate of your choice: Stuff envelopes, staff a phone bank, write letters to the editor of your local paper. Campaigns are just getting started, and this is a chance to get in early on what could be a real rocket! All these Democrats lining up to take their shot at Lil George aren't doing it because they want to lose -- there's a very good possibility of beating this garbanzo and his corrupt coterie of cronies.

13. I think it is the way his campaign
connects you to other people who feel the same way. It is a tangible connection to the movement to get rid of Bush.

I sat with students at the Meetup last night and they were talking about making donations of $5.00 and $10.00. It all adds up and it connects you to all the other swho have made donations. It is so exciting to see those bats go up with each donation.

16. Me Too
I donated $50 to Dean Tuesday. First donation ever to a candidate though I did give to the Democratic Party in 2000.

I think my primary motivation is the grassroots excitement of Dean'scampaign. It is a chance to demonstrate that perhaps there is an alternative to corporate financing of our politicians. A relatively small number of people (1 million) giving $50 would make a HUGH impact.

No I don't agree with Dean on every issue. I'm closest to Kucinich and maybe even Kerry. But the Dems need a big shaking and maybe Dean can do it.

17. I've given a tiny bit to other candidates in the past, but giving to Dean,
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 09:49 AM by DagmarK
I don't know what it is...but it's darn fun to give to Dean!!

I just hope NO corporation ever figures out what the appeal is for giving to Dean -- cause we would all be toast. I don't fall for ANY marketing gimicks, ever.

Maybe the fun of giving to Dean is just the feel that somehow in these troubled times we are putting our money where our mouths are AND uniting against Bush. Yeah, that's probably the hook for me.

I bet McDonald's would see a surge in sales if they would bash Bush! Think we can convince them? LOL
