Day 22 - Still no Bush response to Kerry Debate Challenge
http://blog.johnkerry.com/dbunker/archives/001376.html
<snip>
Bush Still Ducking Kerry Debate Challenge
On March 13th, John Kerry called on George W. Bush to agree to substantive monthly debates on the great issues facing America. Bush hasn't hesitated to launch a series of misleading negative TV ads against Kerry, but he still hasn't accepted Kerry's challenge to give the American people what they deserve: an honest, open discussion about America's future.

UPDATE: On April 1st, Governor Jeanne Shaheen, Kerry National Campaign Chairwoman, called on Bush-Cheney Chairman Marc Racicot to accept John Kerry’s invitation to hold six substantive, respectful debates with George Bush.
</snip>

If Bush does decide to participate, I hope he can shorten his response time in the debate.

1. Kerry should just go ahead and schedule
these debates and have them whether or not Bu$h shows up.

13. Free airtime to get his message out
while showing the rest of the country that W is unwilling to go head to head with him.

14. don't you think

it would rather make him look like an idiot, and a pompous fool? I mean, basically he is just spinning his wheels if he did this. He is saying that he is unable to get * to take him seriously, and he is reacting in a childish manner. He'd get publicity alright, but unlike Hollywood, not all publicity is good for politicians.

Fortunately, I think he will avoid this desperate strategy. besides, he could schedule the debates, but that doesn't mean that he would get free air time. Why would the right-wing media supply it?

4. It's another ploy to lower expectations
Have the media think bush don't want to debate.

The Dem's should just leave it alone for now. Bush is brain dead when it comes to policy but he and his team are very slick at manipulating the media. When he does appear on a debate, expectations will be low, then he will appear strong. It's a ploy. Kerry should just leave it be for now.

5. Kerry should call him a liar and a coward...
...schedule a debate, and then have a Cheney look alike show up with a ventriloquists dummy of Dubya and let that "team" participate in Dubyas stead.

6. You've got a great Kerry TV ad idea there...
Here's some narration to go with the pictures you're painting:

"George Bush is afraid to debate John Kerry"

"So, to get the dialog going, we've hired a very able stand-in for the President, until he accepts our challenge..."

7. I was just thinking about that...
Perhaps he could put the challenge out to the entire Administration?? If Bush is too chickenshit to debate, we will debate anybody they want to put forward. Do they want to continue to stonewall?

10. If Bush can skirt a WAR he can duck a DEBATE
America, is this the Best we GOT? A leader who poses on the ashes of the WTC with a fireman and a bullhorn as he closes "The barn doors after the horses left"... "we gonna get um". Never mind he was supposed to PREVENT the Attack in the first place.

He is a disgrace and it only shows the POWER of Propaganda that he is is still there.

9. Kerry ought to give Bush some of his own medicine
...taunt him to the point where Bush throws a public tantrum (Bring in on, Bush); accuse Bush of being too chicken to debate a man his own size; threaten Bush with outing him as a bisexual (it's the hypocrisy, not sexual orientation); etc.

15. Remember "Chicken George" in 1992?
I'm pretty sure that the Clinton campaign was involved in this..

A man in a Chicken Suit followed George H.W. Bush everywhere he went on the campaign trail, serving as a constant reminder to voters about how he didn't want to debate Bill Clinton..

It worked. Or, it at the very least contributed a small amount to the victory in 1992. I think we should being the Chicken back!

Bring the Chicken back!
