Isn't this Gray's second term as Gov?
How did he do up until Enron debacle? Seriously, if it can be pointed out that he did well up until Enron, I think that would go a long way to support him. How did he do with everything else there like education, taxes up until Enron?

he has been good on labor issues and other socially related things.

Enron is what started it.. it was a nightmare thanks to the Feds not stepping in - but why should they? it was their buddies making the dough off of a state that did not vote for Bush.

2. Davis was doing fine until President Schleprock took office.
BTW, the gaming of the energy trading system in California by Enron and the other power generators probably had more than a little to do with the onset of the recession. Bush's turning a blind eye did not help.

3. Indeed
And unlike the unelected fraud in the white house, Davis actually got more votes than the other guy. Twice.

4. Here is one reason for the Repuke engineered recall......
There are oil reserves off the California coast.

<snip>
Mr. Davis says. "I remain adamant in my resolve to maintain California's right to protect its ocean and coastal resources from the adverse impacts of offshore oil and gas development."
<snip>

That statement alone makes Davis a target for BushCo Inc. The chimp protected Florida from oil drilling to make Jeb look good, but has no plans to do the same for California.

I think Davis did as well as could be expected during the Enron pillage of the State. He is sold out to special interest groups, but a repuke candidate will be even more so.

This is all part of Bush's revenge on California for being a Democratic stronghold.

5. You are so right ---
Bush and his oil buddies have a serious hard-on for the coast of California.

Pity the GOP idiot to tries to push through more coastal drilling -- Californians are VERY protective about their seashore and will fight tooth and nail to stop it.

6. I've read that...
...ONE of the reasons Californians want Davis recalled is because of his "mishandling" of the California energy crisis. I've been scratching my head over that one. How the hell was he supposed to "handle" it? The state was being screwed by the greedy nutjobs at Enron. Weren't Californians paying attention? Don't they remember the "Death Star" and "Fatboy" schemes that were uncovered? How was that Davis's fault?
