Ephedra ban starts this month...
As a body builder, this really bothers me. The amount of people that have died from ephedra related incidents is minimal. And most of them could have been prevented. The government is going to ban all sales of ephedra this month, but continue the sales of all alcohol and tobacco products. I don't need to get into the yearly death toll that those fine products cause. Can someone please explain the rationale?
BTW, I don't use any illegal steroids or enhancers. I just drink the ephedra based drinks pre workout to get more blood flowing.

1. I Use Ephedra On The Rare Occassion When I'm SICK
Edited on Sun Mar-28-04 06:55 PM by cryingshame
and NEED to use it.

People such as yourself who overuse and abuse it for recreational purposes have contributed to the baning of a naturally occuring substance which has been in Humanity's medicine cabinet for probably thousands of years. Mostly because herbs put a dent into pharmaceutical industry profits.

Sorry, I don't have much sympathy for people who abuse any substance... herbs or drugs.

4. you shouldnt accuse.........
I dont think you should accuse someone of abusing a substance which you clearly dont know much about. Ephedra can be used responsibly as part of a workout plan. The people that dont do the research on it first and killed themselves ruined it for everyone else. Aspirin causes stomach ulcers when taken irresponsibly, maybe we should ban that too.

But at least I found something great to replace it. Look into Thermorexin if you want something good pre-workout.:)

6. Where can I find that stuff?
Doesn't it interfere with the thyroid, to speed it up or something, which in turn stimulates the metabolism?

7. you can find it here
https://www.anabolicfitness.net/shop/

They used to have a free sample thing going but I think it ended IIRC.

Also, the original price is way too high, but on the site they have a spot to enter a coupon code.

If you enter "afdiscount" the price should cut in half.:)

Also, for just general info on Thermorexin http://www.thermorexin.com/

10. You know what I find really amazing?
The large number of drug warriors here at DU. Although I've recently been told down in the gun dungeon that it's the Republicans who want to end the war on drugs. I was shocked.

14. Why should we be governed by your personal emotions?
Id feel bad too if someone close to me died, but thats niether here nor there to this discussion. Many many things cause death in some cases and are and should be perfectly legal. If you are going to argue, some statistics or medical argument would be nice.

16. So Ephedra is so beneficial to society
that healthly people can drop dead without warning or regulation? Why should people die for someone's desire to take it?

18. Those arent facts.
Thats a hypothetical. GIve me some numbers on just how risky Ephedra use is first off.

Now, one fact I would agree with you in is that ephedra was not identified early enough for its risks, and its inclusion in many drugs for a variety of things was dangerous.

Lots of pharmacuticals have fatality rates, even when used properly they do. Show me the numbers. Then you would have an argument.

17. Sorry that she died but....it was her right and choice to ingest...
...a substance that didn't work for her. I hate this "if we can save just one person " authoritarianism which always leads to banning substances.
BTW, I don't like to ingest anything...but I simply think it should be each persons choice, and those of us who do not want to partake should not get to bully the minority.
