Poll question: Can Zell Miller be forgiven?
Breaking ranks with the Dems on policy is one thing, but to be organizing democrats to vote for bush is way beyond outrageous!

Can Zell Miller be forgiven for betraying Kerry?

3. yes, but
He doesn't strike me as the type to sell all his belongings and spend 40 years working with the poor in a leper colony.

6. He is no longer a Democrat
As far as I'm concerned. It isn't just that he supports a Republican, it's THIS Republican -- the worst Republican Resident EVER.

9. No damn way!!!
He should be shunned! Every Democrat should turn their back on him and never look at the POS.

If he had any shred of decency he'd just switch parties.

12. I think a really large penance ought to do it.
First he has to repent. Then I recommend a really good penance. We'll skip the flagellation, as delightful as that might be to DUers. How about having Zell finance an after-school program or spend his remaining years working with Head Start children? Cooking dinner for homeless vets might also work.

He's got a lot of 'splaining to do.

15. I suspect, with the wheels starting to come off the cart like this,
with Clarke et al, that eventually he may have a change of heart. NOBODY likes to hitch his wagon to a LOSER! Probably not even Zell Miller. He won't want to go down with bush, if that becomes the widely-held perception. It only makes him look worse.

13. It just shows there's no Truth In Labeling ...
... in politics either. It amazes me that people keep making this same superficial error over and over again. There's far less Truth In (Political) Labeling than there is in bottled water or the stock market. (And we should at least begin to be appreciating how unreliable those are.)

14. give the DLC time.
They'll rehabilitate him eventually.

Most of Miller's agenda is vastly more consistent with the New Democrat point of view than with that of his new Republican friends.
...
Sadly, Miller's perverse and premature endorsement of Bush, and his adoption by the right-wing media machine, will all but guarantee that few if any Democrats will pay attention to the nuggets of sound advice he offers his party.

"Zig Zag Zell" would be right at home in the GOP. He's for whomever can be of the most benefit to him at any given time.

24. I think Zell has been promised a position ...
His Senate gig is about up, I think he's been promised something in return for his support. Maybe even a cabinet position. He should be asked this question publicly and have it on the record before hand - make him refuse any possible position like Richard Clarke. If he won't do that - it cheapens the influence of his support for Bush.
