Lieberman is a snivelling political coward
First, I want to make it perfectly clear. Lieberman is not a whiner. What he does goes way beyond the mundane whine.

Lieberman snivels, and he makes me sick every time I have to hear that nasal snivelling on television. He snivels and is a coward because he refuses to really stand up to Bush.

The platform of, "Vote for me, I'm everything you like in Bush without the Texas baggage" does not fly and never will.

Okay, I now have my fire retardant underwear in place. Flame away.

1. I don't like Lieberman either
but it depresses me when I read these negative posts. I much prefer to read posts about candidates that people do support.

In other words, there is plenty of negative news everywhere else. I come to DU to get positive news.

2. What flames
I have only seen one poster supporting Lieberman on this board, and one that doesn't support him but does occasionally defend him. All the rest always pile on Lieberman.

4. I am sure in his own way Lieberman is a nice guy but....
the reason. The big reason Lieberman gets flamed as much as he does is because of his Republican Lite stance. Also being closely associated with people like Lynne Cheney, Bill Bennett, and George W. Bush does not help him much either.

5. Lieberman isn't as bad
....as he seems. Some conservative stink tank only gave him a 30% positive rating (don't remember the name of the stink, just the number).

Do I like Lieberman in any way? NO, HELL NO!!!

Would I hold my nose and vote for him instead of Bush? You bet.

Still that does not have any bearing to why he is in league with
people like Lynne Cheney, Bennett, and so called "president" Bush. He is about as liberal as Gerald Ford in my view. He is still too close to the right in my view.

18. Agreed with the first part
He is palling around with the wrong people. Still he may get the nomination, and if he does, I don't want to have spent the past year attacking him. Basically I think he is a pretty good guy. He is far to the left of Cheney, Bennett, Bush, Ford etc. all of whom would've gotten a much higher score from the American Conservative Union.

Lieberman has been good on abortion. He has been good on the environment. He has attacked Bush on homeland security (yes, I wish he wouldn't attack the Dems in the same breath). He's Republican light like water is cream light. I know most DUers disagree, but I think he's a good public speaker. He and Gore came here durring the campaign, and they did excite the crowd.

Electability is a crock. All the Dems are electable. I've seen Liberman's supporters on the page and that's all they come up with, and of course he looks bad. I wish they would go to the mat for him like the Dean folks, and the Kerry people and the rest of you people who are committed to someone. Instead they have to rely on an idiot who's hoping Clark will come in, and even if he doesn't, probably won't vote for Lieberman in the primary.

Lieberman isn't even my guy. Someone is going to be our nominee and it might be Lieberman. I agree that he shouldn't be attacking Dean. I agree he shouldn't have supported the war. You Dean folks should defend your guy. But ultimately the infightning is distracting us from what's important. Namely beating Bush. And for all you he's a Republican Light, see my earlier post 20%.

13. Lieberman is a trojan horse of the DLC/PNAC gang
planted right in the heart of the Democratic Party. His support for the war even after the original justifications have been exposed as lies shows clearly that he is not fit to be President. He subscribes to the PNAC doctrine that an elite ( in this case him and his cohorts in the PNAC) should be able to lie to the people to make them support the war.He now has the gall to call this a just war. What makes it just is the fact that it draws American blood and money to support Israel against the Palestinians.

This chickenhawk who sat out the Vietnam war never called it a just war, probably because it did not involve Israel's war against the Arabs. He is a disgrace and probably should be kicked out of our party
before he does any more damage to our true candidates such as Dean, Kucinich and Graham.

You call that a debate? It was more like a mutual admiration society more than anything.

19. I'm not worried about him
Edited on Mon Aug-04-03 10:32 PM by populistmom
He won't even come close in winning the primaries. That is, if he's still in the race by then.
He should be worried more about me and the rest of the Democrats here in CT in 2006. I'd vote for just about any Democrat who runs against him in the primaries.
I'd support him if he did get the nomination and I'd vote for him against any Republican running against him in the Senate, but not my first choice for either by far.

20. Thanks for your prespective, populistmom!
I think it would be so for the good for our Country if joe and his ilk were just voted O-U-T!

I'm sure they would still be doing some damage somewhere but at least we wouldn't have to see them so much.

21. He could possibly be the candidate who
cures insomnia! Really he is the Sominex candidate who if one wants a good nap or sleep will just turn on one of Holy Joe's speeches.
