AOL Poll shows Bush leading
Just hit AOL and they're showing * with a 3% lead over Kerry.
Of course, AOL's polls are just as unscientific as the one from the American Family Association that shows Kerry at 89% and * with 6%.
The link to the AOL poll is

2. Gee. What a shock.
No one listened to me when I refuted the notion of electability, and why we were supposed dump our candidate to follow behind Kerry, because he was 30% ahead in some polls against Bush, and was a sure thing to beat him. Dean fell victim to early attacks, Kerry is now living those attacks and the poll numbers show it. Electability is a myth. Kerry will squeak in, hopefully, if enough people can focus on Bush's weaknesses, rather than Kerry's portrayed weaknesses.

I kept saying.. 'yeah, Kerry polls 30% ahead NOW, he is unexamined and unattacked and has name recognition.' And eople actually thought that Kerry would maintain that lead against Bush's lies and money? No way. No one could. There is no such thing as a sure thing. Doesn't it blow you away to think that with all the damage Bush has done, that he STILL is neck and neck with Kerry? All Bush's fundraising (on our dime) really DOES make a difference in the race. People are addicted to television, and most believe it if they saw it on CNN or Fox. Where is George Soros' money right now? We need ads.. lots of them.

6. This is an online poll, which means nothing
but it was inevitable Bush's huge fund-raising advantage would make a difference. It is always an uphill battle to beat ANY incumbent president.

7. I agree completely, Caliphoto.
I have never for once thought that Kerry is the one to beat bush. But I knew perfectly well that the Dem establishment had already chosen him, and the deal was done.

I've watched elections since 1960, and I have NEVER miscalled the presidential GE. Not once. I won't say any more, but you know where I am going with this. :-(

11. In other words.....the ABB vote may not be
the issue to bring the democratic masses to the polls in November. I too did not find kerry charismatic enought to take on *bush. I can only hold my breath at this point, and cross my fingers, throw salt over my left shoulder and hunt for a 4-leaf clover.

14. Wow, giving up already?
One online poll and Kerry is done? Ever heard of free republic? They mess with polls all the time, I'm sure they've done it here too.

4. I'd rather the public focus on strengths, not weaknesses, and
pick the stronger candidate. I'm already sick of the mudslinging. And we've got eight months to go. And if you consider that, it's a wonder anyone would even pay attention to polls yet at this point and take them seriously. A million things could change between now and early November.

8. The poll makes absolutely NO sense!
51% - 49% say the country is going in the wrong direction, but then 52% - 48% think Bush is the right choice to lead the country. These folks LIKE being lead over a cliff?

9. No, but many of them LIKE bush.
That is our greatest danger on election day. They LIKED Ronnie, as well, just because they did. Just ask President Mondale....

10. But people felt the country was moving in the right direction
when Reagan was president, and his approval ratings were higher than Bush's.

12. That is something that gives me some hope.
But I have nightmares of a 1984 or 1988 rerun. Many Dems thought we were in like flint in 1988, too. I never thought Dukakis could win.

You can never tell what the voters in the middle will do. They are not idealogues. Elections to many of them are like high school class elections, and many of them don't pay any attention until the World series is over; this year that will be coincident with the GE!!

13. don't forget
there are wack jobs on the right that feel Bush is too much like Dean and he is doing a shit job. However, they will die before they ever vote for a Democrat. People on both sides hate what Bush is doing.
