JFK Jr's accident was the result of a bad decision by an inexperienced,non-instrument rated pilot. The combination of darkness and haze obscured the horizon to the point where it was no longer a visible reference,resulting in a condition known as "spatial disorientation". In other words, which way is up and which way is down get flip-flpped in the brain.

Without the training/skills/experience to go to the instrument panel in those conditions,he was in real trouble. The most common end in this situation is called a "graveyard spiral". In the graveyard spiral,the aircraft enters a steep descending turn. the pilot will realize the airctraft is descending and picking up airspeed,and instinctively pull back on the yoke,which will not raise the nose,but only tightens up the turn.

I remember back when Dad was teaching me to fly,he repeatedly drilled me against this event by making me put my head down,then he would put the plane into some really crazy unusual attitudes and make me sit up and recover to straight and level flight using only the instruments. This is how I know what happened out there that night.I would have to find it EXTREMELY unlikely that the accident occurred any other way.

JFK Jr. was a brilliant,articulate man. He just bit off more than he could chew. I love a conspiracy theory as much as anybody,but I really don't see one here,just a tragic,tragic accident.
